Does anyone have access to these fruits where they could get seeds for me? Also looking for any unusual citrus seeds. There are a number of people on the other Canadian trading site looking for these types of seeds to grow. I'm wanting to add these varieties to my collection of citrus plants.
Joydie
Kumquat and limequat seeds wanted
I have some limequats I picked off my plant, never looked in them to check for seeds.......
I'll check right now........
CC,
here's hoping there are seeds in those fruits? fingers and toes are crossed. not my eyes cuz i need to see to type...LOL.
Joydie I'll look at work to see if any kumquats are still on the plant.I do have small seedlings of Kaffir lime..used for Thai cooking.! :-)
You could start a side business Kyle............. sell the leaves for cooking. I believe you can freeze them. I love Thai food.
oooooooh Kyle, you are such a dear! My son and I are addicted to Asian cooking, the only time I get him to help me in the kitchen is when I make Asian foods. Now I'm working on toughening up his palate so he can tolerate HOTTT foods...lol.
I finally just went out and checked thos limequats and there were about 10 seeds.Send me your addy and I'll get them to you, plus I have some Canna seeds......
Kyle, are the kafir limes easy to grow? I have some meyer lemon seeds that I am holding on to, to start when I go to Turkey, the climate of the region I am going to is good for citrus. Already that region is famous for their citrus groves. But I dont recall ever having a meyer lemon there, nor any kaffir limes...(i dont even know if the limes are edible, but I too like them in Thai cooking)
I have your hibiscus seeds earmarked to go with me, as well as some brug seeds from Liz.
Joydie..no more kumquat tree at work..its gone..was news to me.!I tried to get you Kaffir lime seeds too but the market said none till summer.I do have kaffir lime seedlings though ..about 8 inches tall from last spring. :-)
Kyle, so a lime from the grocery will work?
Tig, based on what Mitjo's post here, I assumed that they do, and saved some seeds. I am hoping that they will.

cool, I have a lemon in the kitchen. be back in a few minutes:) lol!
Good luck Tig, let me know if it germinates & grows.
Tig and Pebble,
You have to make sure that its Bearss lime, the other grocery store types of limes are seedless unless you are lucky enough to find Kaffir Lime (not edible, but leaves are used for cooking. Most lemons from the grocery store are Meyer's Lemons and they generally come true from seed. I have many of them growing. Pomello grapefruit, pink or white grapefruit, and some oranges come true from seeds. They will grow from seeds, but will take a long time to reach maturity, but the wait is worth it if you want to try. Make sure you soak the seeds overnight to remove any pulp. Pot them up in potting soak, seal inside a plastic baggie. They generally sprout in 7-14 days. Fertilize with 16-16-16 when they reach about 8-12 inches.
Kyle, ahhhhhh, but thanks for looking for me. Now seedlings sound very tempting! Want to exchange something? I have "craft paints". Email me.
CC,
I'll get an email off to you right away...thanks hun!!
edited to say thank you CC for canna seeds as well. I'm going to be a "Canna Queen".

tiG only if its a kaffir lime they are small round and real bumpy Look like Gherkins.!LOL
I should be able to get Kumquat seeds. My neighbor gave me some fruited branches just the other day. She uses the juice in her iced tea. Unfortunately, after the dog chewed them and rolled them around on the floor, I tossed them. I should see her this weekend.
Two types of limes can be grown from seeds Key Limes (Bearss limes) or Kaffir Limes.
Floridan,
Oh I hope she has some fruits, I would really appreciate it. I could send you a "Little Gift" in the mail. Thanks for the consideration.
Anyone have fruits on the pink variegated lemon or lime plants? I would send "Bigger Gifts" for these!!!
PS. Be sure to email me as to my assortment of Gifts.
Joydie I tried seeds from the variegated citrus before but they all came up green.. :-(
Kyle,
thanks for letting me know...whaaaaaaaaaaa..lol. Ok now I'm going to have to hunt down small plants of those.
I've got 2 plants, all my lemons fell off though...
There are 2 long shoots that I want to try to air layer, any one have any suggestions on the best way,or should I just try cuttings?
I bought that rooting hormone that is for hard wood.......#3
CC,
I think that Cala tried rooting cuttings last year. Check with her to see how she did. I have some cuttings I took from my grapefruit. I use soft wood lateral growth and #2 rooting hormone. I have them on bottom heat, but no root development as of yet. Its only been about 2 and a half weeks though.
Joydie, I have the fruits but..are they Kumquat or Calomondin?? That's the question. I understand that Calomondin is a Kumquat hybrid. We have always used the name interchangeably. I'll send you a quick email!
Joydie, did you get your kumquat seeds? I bought a small container at Meiers last year and saved every seed. I planted a couple and they did come up. Let me know if you still want some. Kumquats are sort of elongated in shape, Calamondins are round. I would love to have kafir lime seedlings or seeds, if anyone is willing to trade.
I also have seeds of hardy orange and orantique.
Joydie, I have some kumquat seeds I saved from a few month ago. I don't know what kind they are but they were pretty sweet. I don't know if they will be true either. I need to get some planted too for fun.
Sugar_Fl,
They will come true from seeds so have some fun and plant them up. They should grow quickly for you in florida. Still looking for the kumquat seeds and fresher seeds seem to work better than old seeds. If you don't mind sharing I'd like some for a SASE. Let me know and thanks.
Ester,
I would be interested in the orantique seeds for SASE if you still have any? Let me know and thanks. Kyle (Eclipse) has kaffir lime seedings he might send a couple to you. Check with him and see, he's going to send some to me.
Jodie,I need your address so I can send those seeds!
joydie.. E-mail on the way. These seed are about 4 or 5 months old. I'll send about 12 so maybe a few will germinate. Let's hope so.
Sugar
CC you have mail and send me your address.
Sugar_Fl,
The SASE went in the mail today!!
Joydie did U receive the seeds? Hope they grow for U.
