Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning farmers and friends. When I looked out a while ago the rain was just starting to fall, I thought this wasn't due until tomorrow. I'll go riding this afternoon if it is warm enough.
Yesterday when I was out riding I found this odd bird nest. I took the picture from the horse. This looked like a stick nest but when I got up to it I was surprised to see the mud liner which is about 6 inches or more in diameter. It is too early for anything to nest yet, so I will have to keep watch on this to see what bird uses the nest. I was surprised to find 2 construction methods and am wondering if one bird built the stick nest and another took it over and built the mud part on that foundation. I got some other good pictures, wandered around another old homestead that only has an old water trough, a few scattered boards and chicken wire remnants, and a small white enameled bowl that was laying out in the sagebrush and is now in my garden shed, a future planter for a small succulent.
Have a great day everyone, count your blessings.
