What type of Brugmansia fan are you?

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Casual grower?
Collector?
Hopelessly addicted?

Since I'm relatively new to brugmansias (other then the old stand by's) I'd say that I'm casual/collector. I don't aspire to have one of each brug out there. I'd just like to have some really nice blooming plants- ALL SUMMER (LOL). I'm also interested in growing these from seeds. Would also like to try to get some of my plants to form pods this season.

However, my main goal is to have a yard full of strong blooming, nice looking plants. I don't want something I have to baby or something that won't bloom until VERY late in the season.

How about you?
((HUGS))

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Hopelessly addicted, need every new one out there. They are a lot of trouble for me here in Ohio, but well worth it, love them, especially when they "bloom"!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Kristi, You had sent me one of my first Brug cuttings a couple of years ago - and yep, that was the beginning of a love affair. Since then, I have started them as seeds.
The only problem I had, and the reason why I am not a collector or hopelessy addicted is that I feel in order to really have a magnificient Burgmansia garden, you need a greenhouse. Our growing season isnt long enough, and wintering them over in the house is chancy. My cat is constantly eating the leaves and trying to dig something out. Then there is the infestation of the little flying things, then the mites, and aphids. If I had a greenhouse, I might have better luck, cause everytime that darned cat get's to digging in one of the pots, the pot gets knocked over, broken limbs, disturbed roots, and raises my blood pressure. In a greenhouse, you could give it light, heat and no disturbing cat. Of course you still have to be vigilant about the pests, but without the cat, you at least have a chance..... (maybe that is just my excuse...) I do have one in my bathroom upstairs that has a bud on it.....
so, I am a casual collector at this time, I might become addicted, I have all the traits of an addict, but for now, have been able to keep it in check.

Dripping Springs, TX

I collect anything that I don't kill or attempt to kill inadvertently. I smother them with too much love. They can wait to get the car keys and be free of me...grin Glory,Cala,CC,tiG,Kell any comments..wink!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

I gave you your first brug Pepple! Isn't that neat....
You hit the nail on the head, a greenhouse is key. I don't have room for a large enough greenhouse here. Most likely one of my saving graces. If I did, watch out. I'd be collecting more then brugs. I fear my family would never see me. I had a PVC hoop house one season. On the weekends I found myself spending more time out there then inside LOL. It was a great escape.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Oh ,you guys don't need the GH till there is no room in the house...thats how I got mine....LOL

I was addicted,I think I'm cured....yeah right

No,seriously,I don't want EVERY one I see,I am cutting back to try to only keep Candidia, versicolor ,and aurea, with a few sangs and a arborea......and doubles of course...

That leaves a whole lot of brugs off my GOTTA have list.

I don't like suavenolens and Insignis as much ,so I'm slowly getting rid of them

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

hopelessly addicted. Don't have one spare inch of room and still planting brug seeds. don't know how in the world I'll have time to water them all, much less feed them soon. Please don't offer to cure my addiction though, I don't want any cures, just more brugs:)

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Got some from Tig and tried the log method. Susess!
Now have 26 in one cal pots.
Built a sunroom for my Mother and its full.
Tried seeds from Calla Rosamond X L'Amour. Failure

I can't remember who is responsible for my ADDICTION, but I think it may have been Ruby_Tuesday, Arlene, and Glory in the beginning. I've received cuttings from all over the place and have them all over the place. I love Aureas, Versicolors, and Variegated, but have a little of everything and enjoy the blooms and fragrance of all of them. I have a couple of different ones coming this spring, but would really like to get some of Monika's beauties. I'm happiest when I'm working with brugs.....my biggest challenge is to get a sang to bloom.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Hopelessly addicted! Suffering form brug fever for almost 30 years. Its getting even worse with every new hybrid LOL!

I think It has all been said in the above postings....just can't get enough Brugs.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

IF driving for 8 hrs to pick up brug cuttings qualifies me as an addict, then I must be. Got my first brug from tiG this past summer. Hope to have something special to share in the next couple of yrs.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

I am new to Brugs, since I just started my collection this past Spring. I've turned into a Collector after reading all the wonderful posted messages and seeing gorgeous pictures of various Brugs. Therefore, I'm destined to become hopelessly addicted....one of the BEST addictions, I can think of!

Lake Stevens, WA(Zone 8a)

I would fall into the casual grower group. Got two brugs last year from the nursery, you know the kind labelled yellow and white? Found DG and now I have seeds sprouted and anxiously awaiting spring so that I can bug you kind folks for cuttings or whatever when the weather is warm enough. Greenhouse is only heated to 40 degrees F. min in winter so my brugs lose their leaves.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I guess I am a casual collecter but if I didn't have five kids, I'd have to change my name to Bankrupt with Brugs! LOL Got my first one from Brugie (can't believe it has been a year!) so we'll have to blame her. Second one came from Mystic, 3-5 from Cala, then a box full Brugie, then a box full from tiG and a bunch more from Cala. Maybe I am leaning toward serious! :) I wouldn't call four dozen an addiction (yet). Um, but I am one of those people that wants one of everything.

Rose Hill, NC(Zone 8a)

I got my first one in '68 if I remember right So
totally consumed by collection addiction LOL

son, you aren't much older than me! you must have started with brugs when you were a wee babe!
I know what you mean about watering in the house, much easier when you can drag the hose around outside:)
