Whiskers! ..I Can't Believe They are Blooming Like This!!

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

This is my first year with the glasshouse at my new location.
I have pretty much been playing by ear what to do.
Not that I remember now, but I can't believe the brugs are blooming like this in winter.

Here is 'Whiskers' today.

Lovely picture. I'm looking at six inches of snow. Hey, can I come and winter over in your glasshouse. Surely NJ isn't that far from where you live. I won't take up to much space *grin*

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Really Badseed...so am I! I think Abutilon gets the prize for such great winter flowers!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

We hardly had any blooms this summer, now mine are getting buds, sue hope they stay on. I need a lift in spirit this time of year. Getting cabin fever.

Keep up with the pics Alice, we enjoy them very much.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Super picture Alice...keep'em coming.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Great picture. I'd give my right arm to have a glass room added onto my house. Tracey, it is snowing a little here right now too. I'm getting sick of this weather. Bring on the sunshine and warm temps.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Already been said but here goes..Great Pic!!LOL

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh so pretty... keep them coming Alice.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Wish we all could come and have a picnic in your glasshouse Alice! Do you think it would hold us?

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Very pretty. We probably only have a few more weeks to worry about the cold. I am going to take mine out of the GH for a few days as it is not supposed to get below 40 degrees for a couple of nights. They have totally out grown it and are falling over. They need a deep soaking too. Then I will have to try and manage to get them back in. Maybe repositioning will help.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Whaaaaa!! I want to move to Donna's house. I've got 3 1/2 more months before mine can come out of the GH. :(

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

snow, just remember last year, you had such a great winter blooming season. We were all so jealous!! I want spring myself, I'm tired of being cramped up inside. Want SUN!!!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Alice, where do you live? May I send some snow to you and bag full of fog LOL? These flowers are beautiful - my plants are still asleep!

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Monika,
I am in the US ..sw Pennsylvania.
We have had plenty of snow and cold temps this winter. Much more than our usual winter.
Cold and snow started here beginning November. And has snowed near every day since.
Day temps have seldom gotten out of the 20sF.
Weird winter )o:

My glasshouse is c 1900.
Highly inefficient for todays standards. But great!
Efficiency isn't everything ..lol Hard to beat glass for good growing.
And the ambiance is wonderful (o:
Also, I have learned to make it work well for me.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

I am suprised about the size of the flowers. My brugs quit flowering in Mid-December, as daylight is not longer as six hours.Long ago, I used to heat the GH, but the plants quit growing. Since then, I just keep ir frost free.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Monika, How often do you water and fertilize them when they are kept in cool GH?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

As needed, snow.It depends if sun is available.Once a week mostly. I dont fertilize the old plants at all during the winter, only young cuttings, which keep their leaves.
