New to Brugs

Clarksville, IN(Zone 6a)

Hi to Everyone! It has been exciting to read all the post and see the photos. I have some brugs (thru a trade) that I put in water and they have rooted and looking good with leaves. Should I leave them there or plant in dirt. In my zone 6 (IN) it won't start getting warm until at least March, if we are lucky. Would love any suggestions. Deb

if you have room, put them in soil. Some brugs can stay in water forever but some will rot easily. If you have any signs of roots, I'd pot them up. Good to have you here with us!!

Hi DebK,

Good to see another new brug lover around here. Hope to get to know you well over the months. Good luck with your brug cuttings. Lots of us will have much cutting material in the fall.

Welcome Deb, As tiG said I would put them in soil. Keep checking them though as they grow quickly. You don't want them to become root bound.

Hi Deb, welcome here!!
If you pot them dont water too much. Young potted brugs dont like much water in soil.Keeping them pretty dry will keep healthy the roots until spring

Welcome Deb, it is good to increase our numbers of brug lovers...Good luck with your new brugs, if you do a search, you will find tons of information. When I had some brugs in pots inside the house, I had many questions and problems with spider mites etc. I soon found remedies, answers etc right here in these posts. Just do a little search, and have FUN growing your brugs, and dont be afraid to ask, we have such a wealth of information, some very knowledgeable people here that are truly priceless.

Thanks so much for all the reponse. Everyone is so nice and just full of info. So, I potted one of my cute little rooted brugs up. I put it in a window that gets plenty of light and stays about 68-70. This is where the other ones are, that I have in water. I will keep everyone posted on my baby. Thanks so much. Deb

Deb,
Good to see another Hoosier on this board! You must be in the southern part of IN. I'm about 50 miles north of Indy which is zone 5. Good luck with your new babies.
