Hi Riseann, I don't have C. Elsa Spath, you photo is great. I do have a dozen or so Clematis and intend to get more for the new Woodland garden area. An 8ft. lattice is started and will be a good place for more Clematis. One good thing about Clematis is that they do quite well in alkaline soil, which is what i have. rutholive (Donna)

Thanks for the kind words :) Elsa is my only clematis so far...I just love her. The color in person is much more perfect than that shown in the photo. Since I have had success with this one...I will be trying more.

Wow Starzz! Those pictures are great!

I have a one year old clematis vine and so far no flowers. Yet will attempt to keep her happy and healthy in hopes for a reward this year. I loved those pictures what wonderful colors! Thanks for the ride!

Beautiful your plant ! Congrats ! I'm trying for so long to have one from seeds, but nothing until now. Did you have yours from seeds ?

Nope, got this one as a very small plant at the nursurey. I understand these are pretty tough to grow from seed, but you could try it. It's very pretty again this year. Here's another picture of the same plant I took yesterday.

Thanks for sharing this wonder with us. I have a few little plants which have similar leaves, but made some very little pink flowers. Do you think they may be clematis ? Yours made big flowers from the very beggining ?

Hmmm....I'm not sure what you have, sweet autumn clematis has small flowers, but they are white. The flowers on this plant are large right from the beginning. I do not know if you would have any success in trying to grow these from seed, but if you would like to try, they will be ripe later this summer. Feel free to email me with your address. Rise
