I got a friend started on Brugs last summer.
She got this as a 3 month old seedling from a local nursery and this was her first bloom when it was 7 months old.
A Friend's Hybrid
Very Pretty - looks like a Euro to me!!
Very pretty! Can you teach her to mail the cuttings to me? LOL Just kidding. I really do love the pale pink.
Very Pretty. Looks like a healthy one. The color is great and the shape is wonderful. It is a keeper for sure.
Very pretty.
Very nice! Looks like she is already an "expert". Way to grow!
Looks like a pink candida..very nice! :-)
Your friend sure lucked out!! I jus tlove it esop the way the tendrils curl. Does your friend know the parents? Let us know what she names it.
The nurseries around here are really getting into brugs. Buying seedlings are fun...... such a surprise then again I have bought named varieties and was really surprised also........ LOL, when they grew up to be a Frosty!
Thank you for your kind posts.
When she showed me these pics last summer, I was green with envy :).
I had her contact the nursery who grew the seedlings and all they could tell her was that they were from a generic package of 'Hybrid white seeds' they had planted. They could offer no additional info and were quite surprised to find she had gotten this 'winner' from one of their seedlings.
Only after she is able to start cuttings for Liz, Jeanne and I will I dare to tell her that she can name this beauty! (evil grin)
Here is one more of this that shows the recurl even better.

LOL - a girl after my own heart. This is the one that Jeanne and I couldn't give you a name for last summer right? It really is lovely.
I like how thick looking this flower is.
Neat brug! I want one, too (o: LOL

It really is great. By the looks of the leaves maybe you should get your cutting quick! LOL. Could that be mite damage or just old leaves?
Itis amazing to think that if cuttings are not made from a seedling, the variety could be lost forever if it dies suddenly. Goes to show you that you should made cuttings ASAP and send them to as many friends as possible to make sure your brug lives on if it is a winner............
Dont worry about this brug!!!!!!!!
B x Candida sometime has such leafes. Keep it and care for it and you will have much joy with it.
beautiful....
Very pretty bloom.
This plant had an awful leaf problem last year ( good eyes Kell). This was before I was part of this site and with Liz's and Jeanne's help, we struggled to identify the problem and fix it.
The owner could never see any insects on it ( and she is quite knowledgeable) but we treated it twice with a systemic insecticide and once with a systemic fungicide. As you can see in the pictures taken in her GH in the late summer, the plant was on the mend and we are hoping it recovered sufficiently to make it through the winter dormancy she put it into. She was unsuccessful getting cuttings to take as they were all too soft and green so we are keeping our fingers crossed.
[She lives in Canadian Zone 2 so dormancy was her only option for over wintering this beauty as it would have been too costly for her to run her GH all year].
I am putting up a pic of the leaves at their worst.... any further input on the problem we would be grateful for, in case she runs into it again this year so we can nip it in the bud.
[The missing parts of the leaves are where the damage was the worst and seemed to 'melt off' rather than be eaten off by an insect.]
[We also gave it some Chealate of iron once it seemed to be recovering].
Thank you.
Hopefully the leaf problem will be under control this summer.
It has such a lovely bloom.
Well RA49, your lucky friend had the most expert help in Miss Lizzy and Jeanne! I will hope along with you that it survives the winter to give pleasure to you all. It is too beautiful to be lost. Maybe what ever was hurting it has died forever in the winter! Lets hope! Please keep us updated on its progress.

Good to hear that hybrid bloomed within its first year. I select only hybrids that bloom within the first year, but as Monika and other great hybridizers have pointed out, that isn't nearly enough to work with. I do like that flower though as one can clearly see its versicolor and aurea parentage. Nice to see you got something worth while from your seedlings.
What a lovely color!
