Was I robbed? CDW burner?

I have a Memorex 40x12x48 CDW burner that I bought so I can save my photos on CDs. The software is Roxio Easy CD Creator 5. When I click on the button "make a photo or video CD" several options come up (photo album / video postcard / video impression / video CD). However, none of the "buttons" to choose any of these options is "highlighted" for me to click on. I do see an "upgrade" button.....does this CDW not allow me to save photos on a CD (without upgrading) even though the box states "store data, music, photos & video? I'm confused and maybe stupid!
