You know me from the "Veggie Olympics" and I can't wait for the fun to begin again!!

Your the BEST "ZZ"!!!

Shirley1md (the 1st Shirley from Maryland)

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Yay, I have been highly recommended by Shirley1md to join this RRobin!

I have a bounty of heirloom veggie seeds to trade. (Many of them European and some unknown in the US, so far as I can tell.) And please, don't get paranoid about trading with the UK. I've been sending seeds to the US almost every month since the January 2002 phytosanitation laws came in - and not one package was impounded.

(I've also grown street-wise on how to prevent that...)

So please sign me up!

PS: can't send usable postage stamps, of course, but I have a few dollar bills. (They grow, in my sock drawer, I find.) Would they suffice?

wuill this work like a round robin or how.

Willamette Valley-OS, OR(Zone 8a)

jcf-
No...this is NOT a Round-Robin. This is a Mega Vegetable Seed Swap/Exchange. Where you Package up Individual Seed Packets of Vegetable Seeds send them to one Address. They are Inventoried...And then a Mass Inventory is E-Mailed out. And Everyone gets a chance to Choose a Percentage/Number of Seed Packets from the Inventory. By the Number of Seed Packets you have sent in. You WILL NOT receive any of your own Seed Packets in the Return of your Package. And You Will Receive Back...The Same Amount of Seed Packets in Return as you Sent in.

When I did this Last Year, the simplest and fairest way to divide up Seed Packets was as follows...After all the Seed Packets are sent in. I publish a 'Complete Seed Inventory' to which you are allowed to choose a certain Number/Percentage of Seeds from the 'Seed Inventory List'. This is Determined by the Number of People Involved by the Number of Seed Packets sent in...By the Number of Seed Packets You Send in. It worked very well Last Year, and everyone was extremely happy with the results. It averaged out that everyone got 86% of what they wanted on their "Wish Lists". And over 50% of their Choices from the Inventory.

If you, or anyone here at Dave's Garden would like the 'Information Packet' sent to them...I would be happy to E-Mail one to anyone who would like to request one.
I need you to send me your First Name and your E-Mail Address in a Private E-Mail. DO NOT Post your Name or E-Mail here.
I may not be able to get right back to you immediately. But you will receive the 'Information Packet' within the very same day you request it. I am starting to get a Heavy Sign-Up now from all the other Websites that are involved.....And, As I stated...Last Year, was My First Year doing "ZZ's"~'Veggie Seed Swap', and I had over 2500 Seed Packets involved, with 51 Individuals Signed-Up from 1(one) Website. Plus in MY Seed Swap, I include many Seed Packets as giveaways, which are given as Prizes to the replies in the 'Veggie Games'. So as I said above This is NOT...Just your Ordinary Seed Swap!
I Hope this explains some of what "ZZ's"~'Veggie Seed Swap' is all about, jcf. Send me an E-Mail with your First Name, and Your E-Mail Address...if you would like to See/Receive an 'Information Packet'.

Thanks for Asking...We will never learn...If We don't ask!

YUP, Yup, yup!!! It's a Vegetable Happenin'! NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!!

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Wow, 'tis awesome!

2500 seed packets? Chapeau! (as they say in France.)

Well, I'm just now bundling up some 1250 seed packets for members of my little UK seed share club The Village Guild. It's hard work!

(Well, difference is, I grew, dried and packaged every seed myself. But that's not work - it's slavery...)

So I respect enormously what you're doing. A first of its kind. And it ain't work, if it's fun.

South Point, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay, Count me in too. I am printing out the info above to see the details of what is required.

Esther

Willamette Valley-OS, OR(Zone 8a)

Everyone above should have received their E-Mail 'Information Packets'...or received an E-Mail from me.

Can I remind People when they Sign-Up...I Do Not Have Your E-Mail Address, to Send your 'Information Packet' to you when you Sign-Up. So you Need to also Send me a Personal E-Mail...with your E-Mail Address..."Thanks"!

Those of you who have E-Mailed me Directly to Sign-Up...That is Fine. Everyone is Welcome to Sign-Up, whichever way you feel more comfortable...And I have Plenty of Room for the time being for Everyone!
I also should say tho...that I will probably close this Vegetable Seed Swap Offering down sooner than the above Deadline, and Registration/Sign-Up Dates. Because I am Receiving a Much Bigger Response/Postings, of Sign-Ups from all of the other Websites, than I ever expected to Receive...Signing up this Early.

"ZZ's"~'Veggie Seed Swap'

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

YEAH "ZZ"! Great response!! The others better HURRY UP OR THEY WILL MISS OUT!!!

John, you got that right, 'tis FUN!!!

"Chapeau"! (as they say in France.) Are you throwing your "hat" into the ring or hoping to catch packets of veggie seeds that will "rain" from ALL OVER THE WORLD???? :~)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

OK,you scared me...I'm in on time I hope.......

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Well, my old French teacher used to say 'chapeau!' whenever I did anything right.

Needless to say, it only happened once.

But then I suspect he was mad as a... hatter.

Incidentally... ZZ, thanks for e-mailing me the info pack. Alas, each time I tried to print it - or copy it to Clipboard to print from eg. Wordpad, it threw up a Dial-up Connection Box - which was irremovable. Then it crashed my computer (Blue Screen of Death) - three times.

Do I just have a buggy computer - or have any other folk experienced this?

From what I was able to see of the info pack, it looked great! Just wonder if the e-mail message contains a bug.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

ZZ, you have mail

John, do you have slugs in your computer garden? I've heard that UK slugs are nasty creatures that get just about anywhere they want to be!

Question: would it be alright to share seeds that I've received in trade from others if I so identify them? I have a tiny garden, so never need quite so many seeds as I receive.

Willamette Valley-OS, OR(Zone 8a)

NO BUGS HERE JOHN!

I HAVE RAID IN ONE HAND...
AND LYSOL IN THE OTHER.
RIGHT AT HAND BY THE SCREEN.
..lol.

I AM AN ORGANIC GARDENER BUT...
WHEN IT COMES TO A VIRUS BUG.

THEY IS NO CHANCE THAT THEY GET IN HERE.

I will send you another Packet without all the Wonderful Color and HTML. Your Computer or Browser settings are probably not enabled or set to Download alot of it.....It will be so bland tho John..
So dump that other one.
I am working on one with NO HTML Codes.
Thanks for letting me know.

Lelan.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

ZZ, my computer liked the email so well that it tried to print it 4 times. I finally had to turn the printer off to get it to stop!

St. augustine, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm in. I will send you my personal info via e-mail.

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Ah, you sent me HTML!

That explains it...

Some browsers just ain't equipped for it, and their printers do funny things - like seize up entirely or carry on forever.

Best keep to the plain vanilla version, I think. I'm sure I don't have a virus. My McAffee scan denied all knowledge of one...

Willamette Valley-OS, OR(Zone 8a)

Time for a Pep Talk...............

Come On...ALL You Veggie Gardener's!

You're lagging behind...ALL the other Websites!
The other Websites are knocking you dead!

I thought for sure there were some
'Veggie Gardeners' at Dave's Gardens!
Maybe I was wrong.

Don't wait too long...
'The Veggie Games' are about to begin!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Now that we've been "properly" scolded "ZZ", I'll send mine out this week. Thanks for the "nudge"! :~)

Geneseo, IL(Zone 5a)

If theres still an opening count me in will e-mail THAnks

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Wow, ZZ... how DO you do those clever text enhancements in this Forum - those compelling emboldments, underlinings and italics?

I've always wanted to do the same, but dem good ole Microsoft text enhancement keys don't work here...

So I have to do _this_. Or even *this*. Which is very ~boring~. :-)> (The emoticon of a bearded, frustrated, John Yeoman.)

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

John,

If you remember any of the embelishments from using DOS, once upon a time, you can highlight the word and then add your DOS codes. It will do some of the creative changes such as, "bold", "underline", & "italics", come immediately to my mind.

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

DOS? What's dat? I bet - like me - you remember VisiCalc, LocoScript and Space Invaders too, Shirley! :-)>

Willamette Valley-OS, OR(Zone 8a)

Gotcha Bon-

Your Registered...Signed-In...
And Your Information Packet
has been sent!

Now get those Seed Packets sent in because....
You Won't have time to be packing No Seeds
during the Veggie games.
You'll be running to the Computer all day long...
to get lots of Free Seed Packets.

'The Veggie Games'...are about to Begin!

"Thanks Everyone..!!!...
Now if Everyone Sends in their Seed Packages...
We are going to have the Biggest Seed Swap in History!

~"ZZ's"~'Veggie Seed Swap'~Train...
is startin to Roll...

"LET THE GAMES BEGIN"!

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

ZZ, mine went out today, being pretty much the whole way across the country, they should get to you by the end of the week or early next week. Me thinks this is going to be an intriguing way to wait out March! Spring never really gets here until May, but at least April usually gives us some hope!

Montezuma, NM(Zone 5b)

Hi ZZ hope I'm not too late. I'd love to participate. I always have more than I need and have bunches left from last year. Just found this today. I'm turning third base and starting a slide.....

Ivinghoe Beds, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Oh yay, I'd love to be part of this RR. But I'm too late, I suspect.

Not least, because all my rare heirloom seeds - grown in my paddock personally last year - are already packeted and labelled. No way can I sit down and label them again, per the strict needs of this RR!

ZZ, will you accept - late - a bundle of some 20 packs of rare tomato seeds, simply labelled with their name and latin names? In exchange (solely) for rare legumes?

It can be with you in five days...

John

Willamette Valley-OS, OR(Zone 8a)

John-
You can send in Whatever Seed Packets
you have to send in John.
The Guidelines for Seed Packet Labeling...
Was used Just as an Example.
Send whatever amount of Seed Packets that you wish.

Wow - I'm not in on this round as I am a newbie and only have a few tomato seeds that have been donated to me and nothing to trade this year, but I'm watching this thread and happily cheering you all along. Hopefully you'll do this again next year!

Sounds like Shirley and Crestedchik will have some fun things to bring to the NE roundup *hint hint*
