That is a very healthy looking Ficus benjamina. I have a couple of Ficus b. , actually I think it is 5, that growing in a shallow pot for about 7 or 8 years, not as nice as the one in the photo. Also have 3 other varieties. One has a root system similiar to the one in the photo. Makes a good bonsai. rutholive (Donna)

I like it! did you do it yourself?

I started a cutting from a mature tree about 19 years ago. I let it grow in a pot for a year. I arranged the rocks, which I had collected near Leaky Texas, in this pot. The plant was removed from the pot and the roots pulled over the rocks. I put dried sphagnum moss over the roots. I used metal plant stakes (3)that cinch onto the side of a pot and wire to hold the plant upright. I kept the moss wet for several months until the plants roots grew down under the rocks and stabilized it. I kept the top cut back over the years and now this is the result!

Beautiful! I have a small (I mean small...maybe 6-8 inches high), and I think you have inspired me to attempt what you have done before it gets too big! I purchased it a year ago, so perhaps it is ready to attempt this!
