Bringing 'Snowbank' thru Winter .. My observations

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

I have been following the postings growing 'Snowbank' .
But I wanted to give attention to how mine are doing before responding.
So I decided a thread of my own.

Mine have been since October in a cooler 50s F glasshouse without artificial light supplement.
Growth has slowed the winter months. Some lost a leaf or two. But just a few and at the bottom (older growth).
Due to the cooler natural air, leaves have not dried much. None have papered.
A little shrinking to the white edges, though. Probably to the greater growth of the green and reactions to less light.
I have kept watering to the dry side with all my the brugs. Only a little liquid fertilizer once the past month.

Older leaves on 'Snowbank' overall have paled a bit. Possible they may drop as spring approaches and more vigor.
But if so ..to be replaced by fresh new growth already seen emerging. I may just remove the old ones.

I see 'Snowbank' a little sensitive at this point. But nowhere in jeopardy.
Though I think as these plants grow to mature ..the more hardy they will become.

Since fall, I have not artifically 'stressed' Snowbank. No moving locations in the greenhouse.
No repotting. No overwatering, fertilizers, etc.
It seems the less fussed with in their down time ..the better they have done.

Thanks! I think I'l try another in warmer spring. I'm going to write your info in a note book. El nino go away. I'm starting to blame him for everthing. At least I have rain in my tank.

Alice, I had mine in a cool room when it started dropping the leaves so I brought it to a warmer room. Still dropping leaves. I think I'll wait till I turn the heat up a little in the GH and put it out there. I'm sure in the spring it will start filling in again. Yours looks great.

I'm hanging in there. Just crossing my fingers that spring will arrive early here. My Snowbank has a very nice and straight stem, and the leaves are still papering on the white margins. Will just wait and see what happens. Yours looks great Alice.

My apologies, Desert Rose.
I will replace it for you.
Let me know when you wish to receive it.

Dear Abutilon,
I saw your offer to Desert Rose to replace her Snowbank that she had no luck with. If you have losts of starts, I'd love to have a variegated Brug. Don't have one. I could offer in exchange many varieties of fuchsia (in the spring) or Datura Metel ballerina when they get a little bigger. Question to all: Is Datura Metel an annual? I've heard the rumor.

The one I ordered was a little less than a foot tall, and it's shipped priority mail, which is hard for me to say, depending on your zone and the weight. If you fill out the shopping cart and register your name and stuff I think the shipping charges will come up on it.If you don't want it just hit cancel.(I think)
I love mine and feel it was well worth it.....

Moretz,
I will ask at my 12 Step Fuchsia Addiction group meeting on Tuesday. How cold does it get in your zone? I don't think anything will overwinter in a container (unless there is very little freezing weather), but I believe that there are some uprights that do fine in the garden. I have one and if that will work for you I'd be glad to send you cuttings or starts.

Lake Stevens, WA(Zone 8a)

Crestedchik,
I checked your hyperlink and the website gives me "none found" for Brugmansia? Did I do something wrong? Or are all the Brugs gone?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

You did it right. I may mean as you mentioned, that all she had are sold.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Sorry.
DG has been down so I did not see this. And our links are not working.
I will be working on this eve. My apologies again.
I don't know if the Sciff store is working and don't have time to check right now as I am already running late for work.
You can always contact me my email at Abution member profile.

Yes, we have Snowbank. About 1 ft tall and well established. They are 18.
Shipping is from 15423.
CrestedChick, Tracey, and Brugie. I appreciate your friendship and help when I am not here.
I will be here again evening.

Sorry for this rushed day at my end.
