This is a Double White x Butterfly seedling. It grew strange from the start and stayed bent over with it's head in the dirt for days before it fully popped up.It's only about 1 1/2 inches high , has one main trunk and two branches on the top. These are planted in cell packs with one seed to each cell. None of the other seedlings have grown like this one.
Weird seedling
Maybe it will be a rare beautiful mutant! I keep telling myself that's what I am... Especially with all the gray hair and wrinkles showing up daily.....Grin Where is Owen?!!!--- I'm waiting for a comeback from you Owen
Hey, that one's already y'd, should be blooming soon. Looks like it's going to be siamese twins, or triples, way to go......... Hope it turns out to be something really "good".
very interesting.
Could be a sport starting on it already, with a triple striped pink and yellow!!!!
Cool!
What a neat find. Keep us updated on how it grows!
Very strange.
That is strange, it looks like two plants fused togheter.
Hope this continues to grow. Will be interesting to see what it grows into.
Snow,
I have exactly the same with a Mayaseedling. Itīs an Albino, probably it will not grow...
I very hope yours will grow and flower.
GL
It will be interesting to see what happens with this one. Keep us posted.
It will be ineresting to see what it grows into, it definately has a siamese thing going.....
It is very different looking next to all the other seedlings. I'm curious too what it will grow into. I'll keep you all updated.
I can't wait to see that one bloom. Has anyone had any tri-cotyledons from their seedlings. I've had a few, but they seem to be pretty rare as well. I like the seedlings that show unusual traits right from the start, but I haven't had any luck with them turning into anything spectacular later on yet. Still, perhaps breeding them to each other might prove interesting...or not. Still, one never knows unless one tries.
Good to see you Eric. No tri-cotyledons here. This was the only strange seedling I had.
None here either. I guess they are more frequent by Daturas where I have seen a lot, but the Brugs are all with two seedleaves. L`Amour x Hofwil and Hofwil x L`Amour has developed the first true leaves and so have half of the crosses. What I am more excited about is these three aurea seedlings I mentioned last summer. One has two true leaves as well and I keep imagine their parent aureas growing wild in Colombia and what they looked like? Its like having nature growing wild in a pot.
Tonny, I hope that those aurea's will produce some beautiful flowers for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get something terrific.
No tri-cots either, but I had mentioned that some sanguineas had sprouted with one cotyledon. They have become normal plants also.
I have lots of tri-cots, special from candida and aurea seedlings.
Thanks Terry. I just looked at the picture with your "Double" seedling again. I noted not only there is two sets of seed leaves, but the stemm seem to be partly divided (probably down to the roots). I am not an expert, but these seem like siamese twins. Maybe the pollen divided after pollination or the egg cells tried to divide, but didn`t manage. Will you keep me up on the progress. I am very curious, if each of the two grown together seedlings also will have different genes and also the nature of base sports, if these will look like one or the other seedling? My idea is - provided that this is two seedlings with different genes - , that the base sports from the left side will match the left parent and sports on the right the right parent.
lovely little fellow......I can`t wait mine...
