I'm not sure what it is. I love any of the red passifloras, but they mostly bloom in late fall and winter and I have to bring them into the house to hold them over. Can't bring all the vine in, so the buds all get cut off. This year I had bad luck with my cuttings and I've decided that I'm going to give up on most of them. Hope someone can answer your questions.

CC - that looks like P.cinnabarina. Did you start it from seeds?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I don't even know, its tag is missing along with most of them........
Its soooo cute!

Tim will probably know for sure - if he pops in. I think he give out some cinnabarina seeds last year. I got a few but I never got any germination. Nice plant. I think they are self pollinating but I'm not positive.

Karyn,

Sue is right, that's a P. cinnabarina. I sent out seeds last year. If you did get those seeds from me, you lucky to get them to germinate. I had two came up, then died while I was away last March. Elizabeth had several plants from seeds, and they flowered the first year too.
If I remember correctly, it is self fertile, min. temp probably around 50 or 60F. Australia native.
How's the racemosa I sent you last Sept? Any new growth?

Cool passiflora! It looks so perfect! Does anyone have seeds for sase?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Tim - are you asking me? I hope not... but I suppose I better fess up sometime. I'm ashamed to say...I killed it. That one and the vitifolia.... plus several others that I bought. I'm a passiflora failure :-( I have a few that are hanging on by threads but I'd have to say they all look pathetic. I hope they'll just hang on until spring.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Yup,I'm pretty sure they were seeds from you Tim,I love the heck out of it.
Is it hard to root?

And I think there is a fruit starting,is it edible......

Hmmmm...a have nice P Alata in the ghouse. Started it from seed last year. Will I have to wait till the end of the summer/fall to see it flower, even if it is now over a yr old?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I have a huge passiflora,have had it over 2 years,never seen a bud!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Shoe - some passifloras will bloom the first year. I'm not sure about atlata... You might get some flowers this summer. If it's big & healthy I bet you will. Make sure you post pictures... kay?

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Okay, will do. It is a red one also...but more petals and parts than the one shown above. Maybe I'll start feeding it good now that the days are lengthening. Thanks.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Shoe is this your first one?I have a few and they are a treat ,I like to sip my morning coffee and watch them open, takes a few minutes, but well worth the time, plus a good excuse to take a break and sip coffee.

Howdy Root...this is my first red one. Always before I've only been familiar w/the wild ones we have around here, incarnata. When I first saw those yrs ago they became my favorite "wild" flower. (Can't wait for this alata to bloom!)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I went with a couple Reds this year too,Lady Margaret and Ruby Glow,I can't wait.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Purchased from Thompson & Morgan Passiflora incarnata
8 seeds received at the price of $6.39
Sowed on 12/30/02 zipped into a plastic bag
and six weeks later there are
3 puny spindly seedlings about an inch tall!

Most expensive seed I have ever purchased.
Wanted that purple Maypop one; to be honest I don't
even know what incarnata is supposed to look like.
It was all they had for sale in seed.

Oh boy!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yikes arlene. that's a weed down here, wish I'd known I could have sent some. jcf sends them out for postage every year (plants) and Incarta is maypop.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow, same here!...Remind me in the Spring, I'll dig one up for ya if JCF doesnt wanna do it this yr.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)
