I saw a couple of post in Plant ID by Janni...new on Jan 25, 2003~!!! Looks to be from Grandview, MO. A big Welcome from an old lady in Arizona!! Jo
Welcome Janni
Welcome from the midwest,Jump in the waters great here. :)
Not Grandview, Greenview! Thanks for the welcome! I have 6 acres on Lake of the Ozarks, secluded, but not isolated. I live here with my SO, Ed. I am retired, have three daughters, two who live near me, one who lives in Hawaii now. She just got back from doing Outreach in China and the Philippines. More on that at a later time. I have four grandterrors: Aaron, 12; Sydney, 11; Alex, 9 and Jenna, 5 going on 14.
I build computers, service them, do tech work. Ed is a drywall finisher for the biggest contractors in this area and is busy all year. I also work part time at a resort a friend owns (she pays me the big bucks!) and sectretarial type work for Mike's Green Mill Campground (shameless plug).
I love my flowers, plants, veggies, trees, anything with roots. We have a lot of bird houses and many feeders. Watching Mother Nature's show is my favorite pasttime. I also have 3 dogs, 5 cats and 10 birds. So I am kept pretty busy when I want to.
Oh, I moved to Missouri from California in 1976 and have never regretted the move. Everytime I go back there, I am reminded why I left. Hint: I LOVE my peace and slow quiet. (yes I meant to type it like that!)
Janni you sounds like a very wonderful person. My mom was looking into buying some land in the ozarks for when she retires, maybe I should hook her up with you for some info?!?!? Glad ta have ya here I know you'll enjoy it...
Waving hello from sunny cold florida :)

Thank you! (Hey rootdoctor, you are close.....well, 3 hours away) There are a lot of retired people in these parts. Sure, have your mom look me up. I love this area and I love to tell/show folks about it.
Janni,DW & I come down a couple times a year in summer,We stay at Dogwood acres, near sunrise beach, maybe sometime this summer we can have a glass of ice tea and talk some plants.
Root.
Great Idea!!! I live just about 4 miles from Sunrise Beach! In fact, the only socialization I do on a regular basis is Tuesdays at the Sunrise Laundrymat. (See, what'd I say on another forum about getting a life?) Just let me know when you are coming! Do you fish? Ever been to Burt's? LOL I must clean the kitchen! I have on all this Super Bowl stuff I am watching today.
Sure do fish,I believe Burts is where I get my license,Such a nice area,I will also check out the resort you plugged in other thread,we like to try new places all the time,Dogwood has been hard to beat,I plan on lugging down some Alocasia to Leaflady on first trip down this year, would be glad to toss one in for you if you like.
Mike's is the best campground around here. We have a popup there, and since I do computer stuff for him and Ed and he are best buddies, we can go down there for free. But we really don't like to do that because we go down there for a week or two at a time. It is just down the road and I can come home once a day to feed the animals and tend to garden stuff. I work at Val-E-Vue Resort: http://funlake.com/accommodations/valevue/ The Heils are long time friends of ours and Linda gave me a job once when I really needed one so I have been with them forever!
Sure, toss one in for me! Burt's is a restaurant, but it is right next to OKI where you can buy fishing/hunting licenses. I love to fish! I do crappie and catfish. Ed is a crappie, black bass man. My oldest grandson, Aaron, caught a 6 pound 21" black at the campground last year. Ed had it mounted for him. By the time all my grandkids were two they knew how to fish.
PS Is Leaflady on DG??
Welcome aboard the old gardenning bus! Leaflady is on. Go to Member List, you can find out who is a member from your state or anywhere you are curious about.
