Horrible dog abuse case here.

Breaking news in Eastern Oregon!

An elderly lady in this area was just arrested and right now is facing 492 counts of animal abuse and neglect! (More counts of abuse are pending). The dogs were in a foot and a half of feces and mud in the yard and also in the house! Many of them are having to be put to sleep because of broken legs, ribs and jaws among other problems. The rescuers went through 8 40 pound bags of dog food in the first ten minutes to feed these poor animals! They are matted with mud and feces and many have mange. The stench in the house and yard was so bad that the people who went to the house to do the actual rescue had to wear masks to help with the odor. They said it was STILL really bad. It is just horrible!

Donations to care for these dogs are badly needed. The community is offering lots of things to help out. The Second Chance Animal Shelter is trying to find people to adopt the ones that are healthy and they think will make good pets. These rescuers thought that they were going to rescue about 200 dogs and the count is over 600 now!

This lady was run out of Idaho in 1996 for the same charges and at that time over 200 dogs were confiscated. I am praying that this is the last of her having animals!

I have been so very torn today because I was a dog groomer for 22 years and I wish I could go help with cleaning up the adoptable ones BUT I am now allergic to dogs and it would jeapordise my health to help that way. Tomorrow I think I will go around the neighborhood and try to get blankets, towels and such to help out. My almost next doog neighbor is the woman in charge of this whole rescue operation! What a job they are facing!
