Lisa, your soap project sounds interesting. Maybe Shad and I will try it sometime. After he and I do something like that he sometimes goes to his mother's and teaches her and his sister who in turn teach friends.
Shad's still didn't work out too well but he did have some results. He used aquarium tubing which wasn't really the proper material. He called some places yesterday and will get some copper tubing soon and try again. There is a small kit available thru Edmond's Scientific for about $30 for making your own plant oil concentrate that we may get. His mother and I both will probably use that. Maybe I'll grow some sunflowers, remove the pedals and see if I can get some of the supposed fragrance from them. I have some of the sunflower cologne but have never actually smelled any fragrance from any of the sunflowers we have raised. I think it is one of those made up fragrances. What I would really like to get is the fragrance from our Jimson Weed and Climbing Milkweed vines. That is a fabulous scent.
I've been walking to the mailbox every day this week. It feels good to be out of the house. Takes me a long time to walk the 1/2 miles + about a city block but I know it's good for me. If nothing else it gets me out in the sunshine and moving around more.
I think we finally got the new timer in the bird house workig yesterday. It's just a little manual one but the instructions weren't very clear so Jack just had to fiddle with it until he got it figured out. I caught the three bigger geese picking on some of the duck hens last night. We have been keeping them separated at night and these ducks got back in the goose section of the building. I was able to get them out immediately but I think the geese might have really hurt them or even killed them if I hadn't. There are boxes in there the ducks could have hidden in but the geese still could have put their heads in and hurt them. I just may have to get rid of those 3 or at least the gander and maybe one hen who is quite large. One of the hens is smaller like Marsha and seems a bit more easy going like Marsha. Marsha still thinks she is a duck and hangs out with them as much or more than the geese. I only took the 3 from a neighbor because dogs, racoons, etc. were killing all her poultry and she really wanted me to have them because she felt they would be safer here. I did tell her I might not be able to keep them but that I wouldn't butcher them. The gander is white with charcoal spots. A really beautiful bird. None of them are aggressive toward us or any of the other birds except the ducks & then only in the building.
We are suppose to get some snow tho I'm not sure just when. Maybe late today or tonight. I hope so. We desperately need the moisture and I need relief from this barametric pressure headache. Nothing seems to really get rid of it except a change in the barametric pressure outside.
Well, time waits for no one so I need to get moving. GOD bless and keep each of you. May GOD expand your boundries, may HIS hand be upon you to keep you from evil and guide you and may you cause no pain. That is a summery of The Prayer of Jabez.
