What brugmansias did you order for this spring?

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

What are some of the companies you've used. I'm still on the fence about placing a order this season. If money wasn't a object, well you know how that goes!
To bad it is and I'm in charge of the household finances. I know what's coming and GOING.. Boy does it stink to be responsible sometime, LOL.... What's a girl to do?

Kristi

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

lolol I hear ya Kristi,---i wont be buying any brugs this year,---have been giving lots of lovely cuttings, but Im pinching my pennies to buy a new pond liner,-I used a discarded swimming pool liner and covered the bottom with pea gravel and the sides with flat rock and the edges with mulch and rock, but Im constantly trying to cover up the icky blue pasley pattern that sneaks out. Im going to have to content myself with seeds for flowers this season and whatever walmart puts on clearance.

Kristi,
I am on Brug spending diet too. Last year I spend around 500 $ on Brugs, pots, fertilizers and quality soil, so I have to keep low profile this year. *lol* I plan to buy anything pink or dark pink with aurea genes and genes of versicolor to use for line breeding and use this line of hybrids to cross to the vacation Brugs in a later year.

Burlington, ON(Zone 6a)

I just placed my order today for these two this spring.
This is a seed company here in Canada that also sells some Brugs in 31/2" pots.
I ordered Golden Lady and Exotica.
I am not sure how to enter this Url as a hyperlink so I am just placing it here "as is".

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I've ordered tons...in my dreams...lol

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I am not ordering any this year unless it is exceptional. I have far to many now than I am going to have place to put in spring as well as some seeds I am going to plant. Thanks everyone for the wonderful cuttings and seeds.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Tonny- your not suppose to include the cost of supplies in your plant budget, LOL! Those fall under misc. items. This way you can buy more plants.
RA49, thanks for the link- I think? Now I feel like I need to have Golden Lady *grin*

Kristi

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Tonny, i know what you mean. i've spent a ton of money on brugs and stuff in the last year and half. spent over 500 myself just on potting soil, soil improvers and fertilizer for my sand. gonna be happy with what i have and crossing fingers i'll get some beauties from seeds.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

if I ordered something it would be extra ordinary. Hoping I get something great from my seeds too.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Bonnie, you already have all the good ones!!!! Now, all you need to do is make them doubles.

Kristi, you are right *lol*

Arlene and tiG, I cross my fingers that you do.

tiG, I am with Hibiscus. US dbl. pinks. Did you work on putting red mix into a white dbl.?

Why not use Longees species with the very extended hose in hose or maybe try to dbl. EP. An EP double with color as ExP or L`Amour wouldn`t that be different?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So does anyone have Logee's species? Is it really an extended hose in hose? I got it and it was not, and they have sent a replacement.......... I am hoping!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

ms kell, i am suposed to have one, bought from earl, lol. it has two buds on it. someone i gave my sis a hose in hose, so i have one close up by if this one is stuffed.

I hope I used the right name for this Brug. Alice (Abutilon) posted it some time ago:

Its white. Now, imagine it pink.

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

I have ordered some Brugs and lots of other plants. So far I think I have three orders placed to be delivered in the spring.
Unfortunately I always think I will remember what I ordered so I never keep a record.
The good thing is that I will get a nice surprise in the spring. The bad part is that I think I have some plants ordered twice.
I start ordering early and make more orders as the winter goes along. It is a very good system because I never remember how much money I spent. When spring comes around I get lots of plants and it feels like I didn't really spend a lot.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Paintedlady - that's the same system I use, no guilt associated with this (I don't remember) system.

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Paintedlady, we must be twins. That is my system too. When I first got heavy into container gardening, I bought pots, plants, but made my own potting medium. I had potted plants all around the outside of the house and scattered in various other places, hanging baskets hanging all over the place. Somebody asked Spouse how much money he thought I had tied up in all that stuff. He said, "I don't think I want to know". I told him, "I KNOW you don't wanna know!!!"
Datdog, I agree, you NEVER include pots and other stuff in the plant money allotment, that is "Misc. supplies". :>)

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

I'm just too lazy to order anything..LOL

Hope HG or Shredded White flower for me, cause they're the only doubles i have!

Has anyone hybridised with Shredded White?

Bruno

Bruno,I searched for anthers or stigmas in all my Shredded White flowers last season, but there was none. However, I think I heard that it can be done ... somehow ...

Kristi,
I excluded the buying of additionals and now I didn`t spend that much *lol* It even look like I now canb afford to buy Goldenes Kornet. *lol* I grew this one or a plant similar to this one as my first Brug in the early 1990`s and it will be so good to have it back in the garden again. Personally I feel like planting it all over the garden and fill the windows with it and let it sleep in the food end of the bed at night.
Tonny

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Tonny your to funny! I do hope you get your plant back. How did you lose it in the first place, LOL????
Kristi

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

I ordered a new Herenhauser Garten, mine doesn't look too good. B. French Vanilla, Rosemond( the cutting Brugie sent me didn't make it). and Butterfly. Now where am I going to put them?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

and that Jerodsmom is the question my DH asks almost daily!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Bruno, I have two pods on my shredded white that I crossed to Butterfly. Hope they keep growing in my cool GH.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Wish you much luck with these pods, Snow. Should be great to see such a cross flowering.
GL

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Thanks Ludger. There's no telling what they will look like. LOL

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

You will show us!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Yes I definitely will :)

Bruno,
I had a seed pod on my shredded white and it was about 3inches long....one day I was going to be nice to a Bruggie and send them a cutting....guess what I did....cut the cane with the pod. I tried to keep it alive but had no luck. I will keep trying now that I know it can be done.

Tonny,
Here is a picture of the stigma...little fuzzy.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Glory, that is such a sad story! I did the same thing....but not with such a special pod! I was cutting 2 pieces of my DW for Owen and reached in and cut a piece off........and it had 2 pods on it. Since, the 2 cuttings for Owen died but the 6 inch piece with the 2 pods and no leaves rooted and is putting out leaves now. 1 pod started to go yellow so I cut it abouit a week ago. Some of the seeds are brown and some are white. The other pod holds tight. so it may be ok! But the stamp on my forehead that says "I am dangerous when in motion" got bigger.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Glory, Shredded has very funny pods. LOL
http://davesgarden.com/t/369231/

Snow,
I almost forgot about the "Guy" pod. LOL How is it doing? How about the normal looking one.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Glory, So far they are doing ok. Just not growing very much but that's probably due to the cool GH. It's -10 out right now and -22 last night. It's a battle to keep the GH at 40 and above so I hope those pods hang on.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Snow . . I sure hope those pods keep hanging on. It will be very interesting to see what the seeds produce. Keep us updated.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Will do BrugNanny.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Snow, that will be awesome, use superglue or something if it looks like it will fall off....duct tape.......Nu-skin....just save those pods no matter what!!!

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

That's brilliant, Snow! Keep us updated!

Bruno
