Expert help for Snowbank!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

I've tried everything to save this plant. Warmer room, cooler room, different light, good potting mix and nothing seems to work. I need some expert advice. I've kept it away from the other Brugs but I need to know what's causing the leaves to turn dry and papery on the edges, shrink and then fall off. Is this a virus?

Here's another picture of the leaf at the beginning stages.

Leaf at final stage before falling off. Others are having similar problems with this plant. Sure would be nice to know what's causing it.

Snow
I guess the pot is to large. May be it was to wet last time?
Keep the brug bright and pretty dry. Or repot in a small pot and watch the roots.

It looks as if only the white parts from the leafes are turning dry and papery, that is not a virus. My Mayas do the same sometimes in winter.

Young plants can not root through such big pots. After watering the remaining water will kill and make mushy the roots. Special in cold rooms.

I think the snowbank is a very sensitive brug ( may be because of being tetraploid ).

If anything is a little wrong in way of caring it will get ill and miserable.

Thanks Ludger. Sure glad to know it's not a virus. I had it in a much smaller pot but when it started to lose the leaves I put it in the bigger pot. I'll put it back in a smaller pot for the winter.

Could leaf drop be due to lack of humidity? If so, place a small humidifer in the room with the Brug. Hopefully, that will make it perk back up.

If you do not have a humidifier, an easier way is to squirt some water in a clear plastic bag, drain it and then put the brug pot in and have it sit on the opening squenched together. I do this when my cuttings get rubbery and they firm right up.

Mine looks just like yours Snow. I have it in a much smaller pot, but it just continues to act this way. I've moved it, misted it, just about everything that I can think to do. Guess I'll just have to hope that it hangs in there until I can get it out to the greenhouse or planted outside.

Both of mine have done the same thing in the house so I put them in the GH 2 weeks ago and there is no improvement. No signs of new leaf growth so I don't think humidity has anything to do with it. I wonder if it is the cool weather because they were doing great before it got cold.

Mine looks fine....hasn't grown a lot but it has put on a few new leaves....it's in my GH.
Thanks so much Tracey!!!!!

This may be a silly question but have you used any fertilizer on it? Since they are not big enough to go dormant maybe they are hungry? Just a thought. I am glad at least to hear one of them is doing OK, maybe a good pep-talk and they can atleast hold on till spring. One of the others I sent to Texas is doing good. I wonder how Kyle's is? I will try to find out..

CC, yours looks great but I notice on the bottom leaf it looks like it's drying where the white is.
I was fertilizing it along with the other Brugs and the leaves were still drying up. Tried misting too. It's in the house where it's warm and I have a humidifier running on my sunporch where the plants are.I'm just going to work at keeping it alive till the weather warms up and it can go in the GH with the rest of the Brugs.I'm battling right now with trying to keep the GH between 40-45 at night with the temps going to 20 below zero. This week night temps are supposed to go to -30 so I'm keeping this little one in the house. I love this plant and I don't want to lose it.It came from a dear friend so it MUST live.

Well I heard back from Kyle, he said he has lost leaves too, his is going to work, he said up the humidity, the temp, and stop feeding it till spring. He also said that the varigated brugs like longer days, so maybe more light if possible.

Thanks Tracey. I'm going to do what Kyle suggested. Thanks for asking him. This is such a sweet looking brug that I would hate to lose it. You were so nice to send me this baby that I'd be sick if it didn't make it.

I thank you too Tracey. I just put it under the lights with the seedlings. Maybe that will cure it. :)

Snow....It lost a leaf,I think they are just camera shy...lol

Now I'm all nervous.......

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Don't be nervous CC. Yours is in much better shape than mine. I'm sure it's normal to lose some leaves.

Mine looks fine. I have it outside under a patio cover. WE have had a couple pretty cold night down in the uper 30's but it still looks healthy. No signs of new growth however.
