CC: They are looking GREAT. Hope you get some beauties. I am sure you will with that cross. Beautiful Pinks, gotta love the pinks.

CC, they don't look like arboreas. Where did the seeds come from?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

E-Bay.....

They were cheap so I figured it was worth a shot......

I didn't think they were real ones cause they were not HUGE like everyone said theres were....

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i think butterfly x ep should make some nice babies!

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

When did you start these? I had 3 of the seeds you sent me pop up within 2 weeks, but haven't had any more sprout since then. Maybe I need to find a place with more heat....or just learn some patience. It's been 5 weeks since I sowed them.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Congrats CC,

sorry,I dont believe this are Arboreas...

CC, I'm hoping one of us will get a nice deep pink with long tendrils from the Butterfly x EP cross.Well, I can dream can't I? LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm hoping for some awesome pinks.....

Ronna, you can never tell with seeds,I've planted some, had a few germinate, thought, well gee, thats all that going to germinate, and kinda shove them aside,a few weeks later, there are seedlings in there,I also have 3 trays of seeds that never came up.I still haven't planted any of my own seeds, kinda waiting for my whiskers pod to ripen, and start them all at the same time.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I have 4 arborea pods, mostly about the size of a smallish lime.I'm not clear on how long it will take for them to mature - 4 months is what I read for arborea. But a couple of the pods are sanguinea x arborea. Do they take 4 months or 9 months, or somewhere in between?

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Ludger will know!!!!

Liz, they'll be mature in 4 months approx. I just picked mine today, pollinated on Sept. 10-02. The outside went very slack and you could feel the hard seeds inside. Only got 12 seeds though.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

My cross is the other way around. I wonder if that makes a difference. Mom is a sang. It was (your)Peach sang x wild arborea.

We'll need Monika to answer that question Liz.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Liz,

if arborea is the mom it will show you.

The ripe pod will fall down or it will become very mushy.
Mostly 5 months.

GL

Ludger, thanks for the answer. Liz says the pod on the sanguinea is huge, just like most sang pods. We're on our way to having a Canadian flava or a few. We've been dreaming about this for years. I'm so excited.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

but what if mom is a sang? My sang moms never tell me anything LOL. The pods are much larger - like sang pods.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Liz, my Darling...smile lol.......:

Sang mom is sang mom..you must wait for 8 or 9 months
arborea mom is showing you after 4 or mostly 5 months

believe me, please........lol.

Dont tell vh lololololol.

Ludger, my Darling - you're killing me.... LOL

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

VERY WELCOME !!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

so does it matter which way you do the cross? sang X wild arborea or wild arborea x sang?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

CC I got some of the Ebay seeds too...my seeds were very dark brown and big..were yours? Mine are up now too and have about 4 sets of leaves on them.......still not sure if they are really arborea or not. :-)

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

No Kell,

both ways will work. The name at the end is important...hybridizised by...

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Kyle here's the link with the pictures of the arborea seeds...do they look like yours?
