Spider Mites

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

I think that a couple of my brugs have mites. There is
alot of folidge on these plants as they are good size plants. Would it hurt to take off most of these leaves leaving just a few at the ends of the branches to make it easier to spray? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Patricia

Patricia,

you can take away the leaves. Mostly this leaves will fall down after some days because of the spiders.

Better you kill all mites with spraying first time than to keep the leaves.

I have some mites on some of my sedums and one of my brugs. I've tried a commercial soapy water mixture but it isn't killing them at all.

What are you going to spray with Jerodsmom? I have had luck with neem oil if the plant is small enough.

How was your european trip last year? Did you have a glorious time?

Hi Kell, The trip was absolutely wonderful. It rained almost the entire time, but we didn't let that slow us down. The plant is about 6 ft. all and 4 ft. wide. I hadn't decided what to use yet. My husband had surgery last week so I was busy with him all week and didn't get it done. I am having surgery Wednesday and hoped to get it done today, but now it is raining. Now it will be a few weeks before I will be able to walk up into the garden area.

Oh that is too bad. If I were you I would spray it hard on the underside of the leaves with water from the hose. that should set them back a while.

I hope your recovery is fast and not painful! Be sure to post and let us know how you are doing.

It is really no big deal Kell, just a bunion. But they told me I had to stay down for a couple of weeks. You can imagine how hard that will be for me. I must have 40-50 brug. seedlings and plants and another 150 hoya plants that I care for. I am just so used to being active. I will go out right now and hose it down really good.

Thanks , Patricia

Glad to hear it is a bunion....... bet it will be hard to just lie there and letting it heal.
Gee, you were very successful with your seedlings! What mixes are you growing out?
