Farizona (left) and I had to do emergency surgery on my Tropical Sunset. Calalilly had sent me some nice brugs and this one got a little frost bitten....but did put out new leaves...then all of a sudden the 3 new leaves on that branch just fell off! Honest! I didn't do anything to it but water it!! Well...that little branch got all soft and flimsy. We decided to amputate that section...and am hopeful of saving the wee thing! Farizona is a fine plant doctor!! Jo
Sick Brug......
looks like the surgeons know what they are doing.
Awwww-w Jo. I didn't want to tell you, but maybe an old fashioned dose of Castor Oil-------O.K....O.K....just kidding!!
farizona
I must say,Jo...you two look like you make a good pair.I have a brug cutting that did the same thing.
You guys are a hoot. Hope the surgery took and that the baby will be okay.
Who took charge of the scapel?
Was it disinfected???
Is the patient still in recovery??
CC....Farizona did it...You know I don't know nutting about birthin brugies!! BUT....I first consulted Dr. Cal A. Lily....as a second opinion of course! (I hate to see all these bills for Brug-meds...)Jo
LOL!!!!!!
I can just picture you saying...I can't do it!
If you consulted Dr. Cal A. Lily, I am sure that the very best was prescribed aod done for the ailing brug. Hope to see it blooming this summer.
Jo, I had mine under a plant light and all the leaves came off. Hope it makes it back this summer. It is the one Callie gave me this summer when you guys here.

oh you too ladies are pretty goofy today!!!
so did you save the brug?
Glad to see you two surgeons did the correct procedures before operating. You must always take the Brug pressure,um, I mean blood pressure before surgery.ROFLOL!
Did you bandage with Nu-Skin???
You all are a riot.
Gee looking at the patient from here, if I were you 2, I would call a code ASAP! LOL
Tonny, I do hold that stethtscope rather well, don't I? Jo
Hey, folks, if Jo's Brugs do as well for her as her homebaked cinnamon rolls do, she wont have a worry!!
They were YUMMY!!! Frances (AKA: farizona)
Well I have to say this thread sure made me giggle. lol You ladies are nuts! Farizona you mean you got Jo to cook?
SHHHHHH....you notice she didn't say HOME MADE.....but homebaked. They were right out of a Frozen Pillsbury bag!! But...I did BAKE them. LOL Jo
Too Cute...So what was the diagnosis and prognosis of the poor Brug??? Brug Transplant??? or perhaps the patient was transferred to the B-ICU? LOL
The prognosis was that Jo don't know didley about raisin no brugs!!...or many other plants either...but she's a tryin, folks! LOL Jo
Well, even if it becomes a corpse we can replace it with LOTS more!!!!!
CrestedChick...I think you better send me one of those prize winning hens and roosters...to keep down the grasshopper population..so other stuff will have a fighting chance here. Jo
This thread is a hoot! I do have a quick question that maybe someone might know the answer. Why do leaves just fall off of brugs for what seems like no apparent reason? I had some of my babies lose a leaf or two totally unpredicatably. It was weird. They are by a window that gets pretty cold at night right now ~ we've been down into the teens & single digits. But, I close the blinds to keep the colder draft from hitting them.
Could cold air make a brug just drop a leaf?
I want to go on record RIGHT NOW as saying that I DID NOT have anything to do with Morph's loss of leaves!!! LOL Jo
LOL
LOL, Jo! Your thread sucked me in immediately since I had the same problem completely independent from anything you've done :) I haven't had to call in any surgeons yet for amputations. Thank goodness!
Right now it's just "random foliage loss" ~ is that a legitimate disease? Just kidding....
Morph, honey...we could do a house call......Jo
Thanks, Jo! I may have to get a plane ticket for the attending!
Oh, I have been on vacation waaaaaaay too long. Jo, did you disinfect that scapel? I hope you didn't nick it's little trunk when you amputated that limb. Are you sure it's a limb and not the brain(I love brain surgery).I hope you got that medical license I told you about, would hate to get you out of the pokie for practicing brug medicine without a license.(at least Farizona is a licensed nurse)Did you save DNA so we can make a clone in the lab if the surgery fails?
I am sure that brug will live now. It's had the best of care. After all Dr. Cal A. Lily was on call!
LOL Cala...............
OHHHH Dr. Cal A. Lilly!! This is Tropical Sunset calling you...you may call me Trop since you are my "Mom"?? I am calling about this crazy bunch here in Arizona...and I don't know any other brugs here...*snif*...well she has a Jean Pascoe but she won't let me near it!! Say's I will contaminate it!! Farizona promised to bring some of her plants she sstarted from seed...your seeds...they will keep me comoany. She really hasn't amputated this dead appendage yet...I beg her too, but she just laughs her crazy laugh! HELP!!! Trop

I hope the phone consultation helped ease your mind Tropie. I instructed your caregiver in correct apendage removal. I do hope she uses sterile equipment though, wouldn't want her to do even more surgery later.
That is one sad brug........
It need oxegen,and intensive care.......
maybe a transplant......
Dr. Cal A. Lily to the rescue.....hope your brug receovers after the amputation....I hope it doesnt drop Phantom leaves....
I have to agree with CC...that is one sad Brug. LOL
