greenhouse plans for ms kell and ?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

This is what i've decided to do. the temps haven't been really low here, but we have had more cold days here since november than we usually have in 5 years. this seems really reasonable and maybe easy enough.

I have a red or pink plumeria, 4' tall, have never seen it bloom, do not know much about them, enjoyed all the info, very much, thanks, Arlene.

Arlene, looks like a pretty simple way to get a greenhouse fast and without big expense. Bet it comes down easily too for storage if you don't want it up all year.

I'm going to order the bubble insulation for mine hoping that it will keep the heat in and maybe I can get into it early this spring.

Hibiscus, i just received some really nice plumeria cuttings. i hope yours blooms for you this year.
Brugie, that's what i was thinking, and in the meantime my boys just put up something similar, we use at ball games, 12 X 12 or so. gonna rig the plastic around it and use kirk's work lights to give it a teeny bit of heat. i had thought of that this summer but had to have my brain jogged....

Hibiscus,
Send your Plumeria to me....I'll have it bloom here and then send you a picture. LOL

I've had a plumeria for years and it finally bloomed last spring.

Arlene, that GH is exactly what mine is,A 10 x 20 portable garage.I spent more on the plastic because i got the 6 mil UV stuff, and doubled it,but that's basically what I did!

thanks CC, you'll have to let me know if you ran into any pitfalls. i'm trying to protect from 28F, maybe once every year or three down to 15. not from your snow! hope the driving has been easier for you.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Nope. Not getting easier.....Snow every day get old real quick........

The hardest part we had to deal with on the GH was when we were putting the frame together,Chuck decieded he wanted the peices to be screwed together(don't ask why....It's a guy thing I guess)so we had to try to make sure everything was as tight as possible and drill holes for screws, then trying to level it was a pain too .We set it on 6 x 6 wood and used rebar to pound thru the 6 x 6 so it was anchored to the ground, then we screwed the legs to the base feet and used lag bolts to attach those to the 6 x 6.The wind is not going to move it!!!!

Do you have any Plumeria at all, Glory? As big as this is, I could probably get 4-5 bIG foot long cuttings rooted. Sure would be glad to share, only can't promise on the color.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Hibiscus, it should bloom for you maybe this year if you don't cut it.
CC, thanks for the posting and the tips. DH has decided i need a greenhouse. asked why i wasn't growing african violets instead of 100 pound plants...lol.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Ok, Arlene, can't cut my plant, cause its' going to bloom this year, it had better! Or its' goodbye Plumeria!

I just needed a lift, so bought 6 beautiful blooming african violets,$2.39 ea. sure makes spring seem "not so far off"

Tampa, FL(Zone 9b)

oh man!!! now I want to grow plumerias!! Another addiction, I can just feel it!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I just bought some plumeria seeds on ebay......this should be interesting......since I'm seed challenged

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I gave my plumeria away. Too much trouble for northern states. Mine bloomed shortly after I got the logs. Must have been from a mature one.

Tampa, FL(Zone 9b)

Hibiscus, I agree with Arlene....don't cut it! I have my fingers crossed....it WILL BLOOM this year!!!

Hibiscus,
Yes, I do have about 5 of them but if you do decide to get rid of it I'll be happy to take it off your hands....I don't have a red one.
