Here's a profile. I found this flutter on the ground and put it in a bush. (S)he wasn't tattered at all, possibly just cold? It was gone when I got home...

Another thing about this butterfly...it was very green. More than I've ever seen. I probably wouldn't have thought of it again but I saw another very green one...winter color or same butterfly?? Here's the picture of how I found it, sort of lying on it's side. See the green on it's wings? It's much less apparent in the picture. This was the day we had frost.

Hmmm, I think I have seen those, wish my dad was still around, he would know.

Looks like the last picture you posted is a Cloudless Sulphur. http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/distr/lepid/bflyusa/fl/758.htm The more chartreuse coloration could be a genetic variation. My references don't mention anything about a greenish tinge. Next time I go to the farmer's market, I'll try to remember to ask Lorenzo. He raises and sells caterpillars and knows a lot about them. Every time I think I've made some amazing new discovery, he confirms my information [already knew about it].

HEY BUGGUY, wherever you are, you know anything about a color variation in the Sulphurs?

Yes, it's a Cloudless Sulpher. It's the green that baffles me right now...thanks for checking with your friend.
