So I soaked the little brug and datura seed for 24 hours, and I planted them. I let them sit in the dark for about 24 hours with the soil just barely damp. At the moment I have an aquarium light about 1 ft above them. I know I will need better light, but it will have to wait until this weekend. it was 23 this morning, and the high is suppose to be 58 tomorrow?????????????? how crazy is that? :) *waves to Christmas cactus* :)

Cheryl, I had no idea this was you :) Be patient with your seeds.. haha. I don't have much experience with them at all but last year my datura seeds took FOREVER to sprout and then they were everywhere. I'm seeing now that brug seeds can take variable amounts of time too.. and I know now from experience that checking them each hour doesn't make them come up any faster!!

you do know that some brug seeds could take up to a year to sprout?? (have read it)
not here, cause there's no way in heck I could keep a tray that long without it totally drying out at least once:)
good luck with your seeds!

Cheryl,

I know how you feel. Crestedchik sent me some brug seeds last month, and I can't wait to see them grow! I planted them on 12/11 and have three baby seedlings so far. I decided to go with 'the watched pot never boils' theory, so I check them once every morning to see if they need water, and won't let myself look in the pots again until the next morning. They're on top of the tv, so I have to take them down to look at them.

Cheryl,

I'm sure you have heard the old saying..."patience is a virtue", especially in gardening. Beautiful Brugs are DEFINITELY worth waiting for!

From my own personal experience with growing Brugs from seed, it may help to soak them in warm water for 24hrs first, try to remove some of the seed covering very carefully, or you might want to nick the seed coat lightly.

If these suggestions don't help, try chanting incantations, focus ALL your energy into meditation, take a long winters rest (hibernate) and when you wake up, your Brug seeds will have germinated :~)

Please let me know if any of the above works.

hehehe!!! btw, they don't all take that long, if they did, I promise I couldn't grow them from seed.

oh Ludger.......I am sorry..... we have been being very silly the last couple of days! I will try to be more serious. but actually the Root did bring up an intersting point about using manure on your brug garden. I was going to post a thread and see if others felt if one kind of manure was better than another for the brug garden. I want to pep up my garden and do it now so it has a month or 2 to age before I start planting in it again. I was wondering if one was better than another kind or if something like mushroom compost was even better. The Root is doing something right, his plants sure are grand.
So what additives do you all swear by if any? thanks
