Diet Plan

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Argh!!! It's that time again...Every year I plan on going on a diet...but this time I have a battle plan. Here are some of the things that seem to be working...just keep in mind that I will never use sugar-substitutions (EWWWW) and i use butter and oil. My plan is to add more veggies, exercise, and reduce carbs. I was going to do the Atkins diet but it said to cut out all caffiene and refined sugar. HMMMM.....uh no. Need my coffee and tea...not human otherwise. I cannot stand artificial sweeteners and I've tried all of them, including the new one Splenda, but each one leaves a bad chemical aftertaste.
I'm not counting calories so much as trying to change my eating habits...my biggest problem is my husband. He has a hard time eating veggies and I made the mistake of trying to adjust my eating habits to be compatible with his. I've decided he's just going to have to eat whatever I give him. :P
Another problem right now is that I am trying to get pregnant so I cannot do any radical diet plans.

I eat the biggest carbs in the morning...ie my bagel. When those are gone...I'm going to switch to fruit smoothies, made with only fruit, yogurt and tofu.

I've stocked up on nutritious snacks. I have my fave yogurt, which strangely enough is low-cal and low-fat. Ovaltine. Salsa and celery...the celery acts as a chip...very good, didn't miss the chip at all. Fruit cups (yes I know it's a carb, but it's a last resort against chocolate).

I'm replacing the carbs with veggies...example: last night we had roasted ham, but instead of the potatoes or other starch with it, we had sauteed sno peas with Mrs. Dash and a little butter, with a side of radishes.

For Beverages, I have my coffee and then I switch to water for the rest of the day. I only have a 4-cup coffee machine so I can't drink too much. I will have Ovaltine as a snack, especially if I crave something sweet.

Well that's about it. I haven't been exercising too much lately because DH and I have both been sick. Mostly going on short walks and cleaning.
