snail vine?vigna caracalla?
I've never had the vigna bloom in the winter, even in the gh. Mine get huge before they bloom in the summer. The phaseolus caracalla(the blue one) I just got last summer, and it too is resting now in the gh.
thanks

I just got one Daturapod,I'm hoping to see blooms,Shirley showed me a picture combined with Passionflower,I'm going to try it,I looked in PDB,an found a thread, must have been the day Dave opened Parkinglot forum,What a hoot!I guess I got lost reading it,
Daturapod I see you have been away with puter problems,I'm new to DG,so let me say Welcome back.:)
I'm a big Dat FAn'
Glad to see ya back Larry!!
Larry,
Mine bloomed when it was only about a foot long. I had taken the cutting from my mother plant and figured it would take it a long time, but believe it or not, it actually bloomed before it rooted. I think they usually start about the beginning of summer and stay full of blooms until the beginning of winter. This is really easy to grow and the cuttings will root really fast also. Hang in there, it would be much longer, :)
Vigna is the Corkscrew vine. Phaseolus is the snail vine. Mine last summer grew all over the flower bed and I saw a total of about 3 or 4 blooms all summer and fall. I didn't fertilize at all. Maybe I needed to use Bloom on it. Very disappointing, however, I've seen them in full bloom in Arizona and they are great. My Vigna bloomed fairly well and it smelled great. This picture is the one rootdoctor is talking about. I notice that Logee's does not have the snail vine in the catalog this year, unless my eyes are not working right again.
Brugie, wow!..what is the name of Blue Passiflora? Elaine
Elaine, the Passiflora is P. Incense. One of my favorites and it smells nice too. The picture is just a little too blue, but I don't know how to adjust the color. It is more purple actually.
Stormy, I have never had a pod of any kind on mine. I believe Dave has had on his though, but I doubt we would have enough time here for one to mature if it did get pollinated.
