After TWO long years it's going to flower!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

This is a monster brugmansia that I started from seed over two years ago. It's had buds once this summer and a freak hail storm knocked all but one off. The last one I guarded like a mother bird. One a.m. went to go see if it opened and a catipellar sp? chewed the bud off. I was in tears! SO- if something doesn't happen to it, I'll have a bloom in about two weeks.

This plant grew over 10 feet high in a few months. The foliage was HUGE and not bothered by any bugs -except the dam* catipellar!

Rooted this cutting in water.

Pictures aren't too big. Look just fine. Glad to see you are going to get a bloom from your baby. Hope you like it. I can't seem to keep a brug that doesn't bloom the first year, until this year, and I had a couple of them that I kept over. One has croaked and the other one is leafing out really well. Good luck with your brug. Looks like you have a few more plants in the window getting some light. Looks great!!

your brug looks like it is looking at all that snow! Post a pic of your seedling's long awaited flower............. thanks

Brugmansias are so beauti! itīs little pit that those are poisons, or is that matter at all? I dont gonna eat them.......somehow I have little strange feeling about them.............however, I still want to grow them.......maeby I bought one on next summer! that zize seedling what you have looks so cute.....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Mitjo. I think the whole thing is considered poisonous. so don't eat them......LOL! They are fun and easy to grow. have you seen any in Finland? You probably have access to the great euro brugs, you lucky duck!

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

I will not do that! hehheh!
I have seen one tree in marketgarden but were not selling.......that were owner own!
I`m sure where they sell those, I must to figure out....
or I buy seeds.....I`m sure that is 90% funner to grow Brugmansia seeds!

Congrats DatDog. I know you are excited. Hi Mitjo Finland is an incredible place. The trip I got to go there last year will forever be in my mind. I toured Turku, Helsinki, and Tallin, Estonia. Never in my life have I seen such clean cities with the exception of Tallin it was nasty in appearance and smell, but then it is not Finland. I met some very wonderful people there.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Mitzo, you can grow them easily by cuttings......even a little one. See if the store owner will give you a piece. I will have some seeds I hope soon, I can send you if you are allowed to get them from here. I am sure others here will be happy to send you some also.

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

Hi Mitjo,

Are you a friend of Evert? Glad you enjoy coming to the brug forum. I've seen some of your posts on other forums, but when you talk to Evert, I don't understand a word of what you write. :-) Guess I should learn a foreign language, right? Hope to see you here again soon.

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

yeas, I`m Everts friend.....
sometimes we talking Finnish.....but normally English!
sometimes I ask some stupid questions for Evert....and those I say Finnish....."what that mean" and others......Evert English is very good and he knows "gardenwords" which I`m not ever heard about!
I promes send you huge Finnish flag if you learn to speak Finnish.....hehhehh!

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Welcome Mitjo- Really nice folks here. You'll learn SO much about Brumgmansia, just ask away.
Kristi

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Mitjo, I really think I'm too old to learn another language. I'd love to try to learn German though since I have several German friends at Daves. They do so well speaking English that it really isn't necessary to learn that language either. I hope you will sometime try to grow a couple of brugmansia. I think you would like them a lot. They smell so good in the evening through until early morning. Glad you came back to the forum so quickly. Maybe you could give us some information about yourself sometime so we can get to know you better. Later.......Shirley

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

thanks datdog, you`ve got nice Brug!
Brugie, I dont know are you too old, but Finnish is really hard language to learn, one hardest in the world!
yes, I do....when the time comes.....hehhheh! but really, I want!
ps: I wrote somekind of "storie" to me in welcome matt......go read that, if you want!
