We're getting hit hard with this storm. So far the Brugs are safe and warm in the GH as long as we don't lose our power. Before it's over we are supposed to get up to 24 " of new snow. We've already got about 16".
Snowy Brug House
burrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
You both have me beat!
We stopped at 4", dark all the time, tho', want to see some sunshine, they say cloudy and snow all next week, well, I guess it IS winter, spring please hurry!
What pretty pics! brrr.... i had a little frost this morning, does that count? can't take a pic, it's already gone, lol.
Iiiiiiiiiiigit!
OMG....lots of snow. We had frost to Arlene but it's all gone now.
:( poor you snowhermit,--thats more then a little decorative!!!!! We have had a little frost but my dumb daffys are pushin up a little more everyday. Wont complain bout our weather anymore.... spent the moring dreamin up my first veggie garden......again, wayyyy to much coffee this mornin. cheryl
I was already freezing in the house, and it's just 32 here. I don't know how y'all do it. I'll be praying you don't lose power.
this is nothing for northerners
us Yankees deal with this and worse
Its when we get 3 feet or more at once,or Ice storms that knock us down......
Beautiful picture! It makes me want to come and play in it for a while . . . but then go back to my warm place. Hope all goes well and you don't loose your power.
Gosh Snow, I wish I could have some of that snow and that part of the load off you guys. Still nothing here.
WOW ! Those pictures are something else.
Snow and CC,
It really is pretty.....but I still think y'all should become "Snow Birds" and come south for the winter....tomorrows temp is supposed to be 65º here.
snivil..sniff......I wanna GO!
Snow and CC I don't know how you put up with it. I would die. DH is from Michigan and even the offer of the Family home couldn't make him go back when his dad retired to Florida. He doesn't consider himself a Yankee anymore. He's lived here longer than his 19 years in Michigan. He says that he shoveled all the snow he was going to in this lifetime lolol!!!
I think were in for a rough winter here in the Northeast. We've been hit by storm after storm. I don't mind the snow too much now ... in March I start getting a little cranky about it.
CC - do they ever pull the trucks off the roads? A contractor for the PO pulled them off on the Christmas day storm. First time I've ever seen that happen.
My son lives in the Pocono Mtns and has only been a yankee about 6 yrs. Thought it was so great until this year....he is making noises about how nice it is down here!
Sue,not really, sometimes they'll divert loads to other centers, but no matter how bad the snow has been they send us out.Yesterday was awful,I was in a clump of traffic on the Thruway, came around a curve(yes ,I had doubles)I was in the left lane ,there was a Werner trailer in front of me and a set of double 40 next to me,plus cars all around.
Came around the curve and I see the Werner truck sliding sideways and a jack knifed tractor trailer in the median and 3/4 of the way across the road.So I'm trying to stop(the roads were pretty slick),
I have no clue how that Werner driver came out of that slide, cars went in the ditch to avoid him.The truck next to me and I are doing our best to stop without hitting anyone or jack knifing ourselves. There was a tractor trailer on the right shoulder plus some cars ,that werner truck somehow got between them without hitting anyone.I stopped 15 feet in front of the jack knifed trailer,It had to have just happened cause no one was out of their vehicles and nothing had been said on the CB yet.
I was fipping out,if I could have I woulda got out and walked away,I kept saying "I don't belong out here!"I still had 40 miles to go to get back to the building and I shook the whole time. They tried to send me back out but I wouldn't go .13 people called in sick cause they didn't wanna drive in it.I had already worked 11 hours, that plenty in that sh*t ,oops ,I mean snow!
We received 7" of new snow along with some freezing rain. Great photos! Looks like some beautiful scenery around your area Snow.
CC, you deserve an award, big time. i can tell you are a pro for sure. and no wild hair color yet, but i did cut it pretty short.... DS told me while christmas shopping i was one of those "new age people", lol...
I don't envey you CC. I sure would'nt want to drive a truck in the snow. DH wanted to go to town today to get Chinese food and I clutched the arm rest all the way there. Several cars were stuck in the snowbanks.Someone will always stop with chains to pull you out if you get stuck. Most everyone carries chains, shovel, bag of sand, and blankets in their vehicles in the winter. The snow does not slow anyone down up here and life goes on as usual.
Waterloo, it is beautiful up here. I am surrounded by woods and we have gorgeous snow covered mountains in this area. Just wish it was warmer. LOL
gee CC.........please be careful! That sounds so dangerous! I almost feel guilty about my spring like weather here!
If I had to deal with those kind of driving conditions I would never leave the house. CC you are so lucky to have not wrecked.
All I keep thinking is in Febuary we have bids, where by seinority,we bid on the jobs we want, runs we want ,I can bid deliveries,or bid a job in the building, loading trucks again......
Big cut in pay to go back in the building but things like that near miss flash thru my mind and I wonder if I'd be better off......
I think I'm to old to start loading again.......
If winter wasn't quite so long.....
I'm so thankful that you are okay.
Boy CC, that would have been hair raising. I'm so glad you came out of it okay. I hope the snows let up for you guys. I don't know how you do it. Guess I'd rather stay home when the weather is bad, but jobs don't allow us to do that. I've driven in lots of bad weather, but not a big truck/semi.
You're amazing CC. Around here, if it snows, the town basically closes down if there's more than 6 inches of snow. I hate driving in snow, but here it's always really wet snow and slippery.
It's really warm here. About 12+C, and sunny today, haven't had frost for quite a while. Strange weather for early January. All the daffs are poking up, crocuses should be blooming soon if the weather stays this warm.
Heck, if the Weather Channel just hints it might snow here the schools close, the roads close and everyone heads to the grocery store for supplies!
Glad you survived that ordeal, would have scared me to death!
