I bought some lantana plants the other day. 17 1 gallon size in bloom for $1 each. they were extremely rootbound so i repoted and divided them. I cut them back some so the roots could get established. now they are calling for the teens here friday night. should i bring them in. cover them or should i do nothing at all. thanks in advance for any suggestions
need advice asap!
They are not very hardy are they? I'd at least cover them, unless it is just as easy to bring in the pots... Wow, that was quite a good buy, good luck with them. John
We have lantana here at our nursery and we keep them covered. Under normal conditions I would say do nothing but mulch heaviliy, but since the roots aren't established and I'm sure the plants are going through a little transplant shock from being divided, I would just cover them with a freeze cloth or sheet to be safe!

Janet,
Mine are in the ground, so hard to say about any that are in pots. In the ground, they are fine here, zone 8. If you can, drop the pots in the ground, pot and all. I did that with some hostas last year, and they did great. Of course, this year, all the hostas I bought on clearance are in the pots and right on the patio. No time to put them in the ground this year. We'll see how they do. :)
Good luck.
