Monocot arborea

rural, WY(Zone 3a)

Out of a batch of aproximately 16-18 arborea seeds, the very first one that sprouted is a bit deformed, it seems very healthy but looks like a palm or banana seedling, just one cotyledon, is this a frequent occurence? I'm hoping it's my much desired double red culebra.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Dennis,
arborea, sang and flavacrossings somtimes have a very strange germination. I could sing much songs about this...

One, two or three cotyledons, one is smaller than the other one. One is green one is yellow. One is large the other one is small................
I let them grow, time will show.

Wish you much luck for getting a double red culebra...first cutting to me, please. Lol. Thinking..........red culebra would be great, a double ??? may be looking ugly???

Send a picture soon, pressing my thumbs, with thumbnails for peeling the first seeds.
GL

I have seen many Brugs and thousand of Datura seedlings with three cotyledons, but none with one. It sounds rare. :)
In Datura I studied the phenomenon and all tri-leaved developed Y`s with three branches instead of the usual two. That was why I asked Eric to watch his tri-leaved seedlings and see, if they would do the same.

Ludger, I do owe you, so of course you get the double red culebra, but it will probably look like a hideous red squid.
If anything interesting happens, I will learn how to use the camera and send pictures.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Dennis,
each new seedling is good for all of us.
Donīt talk about squids, lol. Speciall from arborea.
Only white blooming till today.
May be yellow (see Monikas websides: Impossible Dream)

I am shure you will have luck with your seedlings.
Yust go on and send pictures with your camera, all here is waiting...lol.
Good Luck
Ludger

This I have to see - a yellow arborea - will it never end? My wanting more?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I know what I wanted to ask - is that the German Post mark as background on Monika's site?

rural, WY(Zone 3a)

Yes, I saw the photo on Monika's site. Does anyone know what this is, is it a cross?

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Liz
I am just charming.
Just be patient and have ready a coffee for Dennis.

I'm trying to be restrained and dignified Ludger, really I am. WOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! A yellow arborea....

Dennis, where did you get Oro Verde seeds from???????????

rural, WY(Zone 3a)

From Rich. Cool eh? They are a x. None have sprouted yet though. But they look alive and waiting. I couldn't find any info on them, aside from being a yellow wild variegation. Yes you can have one if they sprout.

You are being a very good boy Dennis. LOL

rural, WY(Zone 3a)

I'd be a lot better of a boy if I went to work at 8 like I planned, we lost power last night, alarm did't work. We had a wonderful storm, lightning every 20 seconds, no thunder, crazy!

Dennis, we've got really high winds right now and really high tides. It's not raining right now but I'm sure it will be soon. We just keep getting storm after storm this winter but it's mild out there. Lightening, wow, haven't seen that in a while. Strange at this time of year.

Is everything ok in the GH, it should be as the temperature is way above freezing.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, that yellow arborea is beautiful. I'd be happy with a blooming white one, but yellow..........gosh, I can't believe that I'm speechless.....

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Shirley thank you for your words...smile.
I didnt realize it last summer. Monika helped me: She said to me: You are the first one who cooked a yellow arborea.

A yellow arborea WOW. That's wonderful Ludger. Did you do the cross? What did you do to make it yellow?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Ludger, You should be so proud. You sure have some beautiful Brugs.

rural, WY(Zone 3a)

Ludger, is your Yellow arborea an arborea, or is it x flava? I'm trying to figure this one out, but I am lost! Very nice photo, and - GOOD WORK.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Congrats Ludger!!!! it's beautiful

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Gorgeous . . . drooling !!! I agree with you Shirley . . to have a real arborea would be great a yellow one would be awesome! Wow!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Its GORGEOUS! Ludger, you're a great brug daddy

Dennis you are soooo lucky

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Lovely - nice long tendrils on that bloom.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Woh, thank you all.
Please give some time to me to replay all your questions.

I will do it in private mails because we have 2 or 3 bad brugpeople in Germany. Years ago Monika gave some of her seedlings to them and it has been the first pink doubles all over the world. This bad people told the world that they have grown this seedlings, not Monika. They did not like Jeanne with Angelique...
This bad people will not get my crossings. They would do it again and register it somewhere in a trash company...
Please dont replay this mail, dont want to have it again here at this nice forum, smile.

All members from Daves and BGI will get my knowledges but not thieves from others. I MEAN THAT.
We have privates...

Something VERY interesting I must add on this 'monocot'. I already let the seed breeder (Rich Sanders) know, because this is a crazy thing he has tried, and was generous enough to send these seeds to many people.
The arborea with one cotyledon, I somehow put the wrong label in. I have corrected this, I am certain, 100%. The monocot is sanguinea X culebra. All seeds from these crosses have been clones of the mother sanguinea. It is then highly doubtful that this is more than a deformed seed leaf, but there is that tiny chance it is something special, so if anything happens I will send in a photo. (double red culebra LOL)

Dennis

rural, WY(Zone 3a)

Rich is sure there is nothing special with this seedling, he has seen many before, I don't think red culebra is coming anytime soon.
Just give me some time and it will happen!
