Hi everyone. I'm completely new to this forum, although I do frequent other forums on the web. I have so enjoyed reading and learning about all of you and the lovely flowers you treasure so much. I am an avid gardener but have a special fondness for sedums. Well...until recently, now I am finding myself totally fascinated with Brugmansias. I have four of them that I "swapped" other plants for this past fall during a local plant "swap". I have them stored in my basement and they are all about 1 1/2' tall with leaves on them. I water them when they are really dry, but other than that I leave them alone. I was shy about posting at first then after reading a while you all seem very friendly. So, what's your advice to a newbie at this ?

Hi Smoky,
let your brugs rest now and grow in spring.
Happy welcome here.
We are a great Brugfamily sharing all we are finding out.
Greetings
Ludger
Welcome Smokey . . so glad that you decided to join us. Where do you live? I will be glad to help you out with more cuttings of brugs. We like for people to share in our addiction . . LOL.
I found out all about addictions when I started collecting Sedums. I have over 50 types of it now and still going. I'm in East Tennessee, close to the Smoky Mountains. :o)
Welcome Smokey. As Ludger said it's rest time for the Brugs. Just keep your eye on the leaves for any webbing. It's the time of the year that the spider mites like to feast on the Brugs. Before you know it you'll have 50 different Brugs too. :)
They do to me. I have some that look just like that. But I'm not the expert here, they will get here later I guess (except the two above who have already arrived).
They look great! Welcome Smokeymist. Soon you will be posting your flowers.
Welcome Smokey. They look good. I agree with Snow watch for the pesty mites. There is so much good information shared here.
Hello Smokymist!! Certainly no expert here but just wanted to give you a big 'Texas Welcome'. Pam
Welcome Smokymist. i live in florida, so i don't know much about overwintering, but you might want to think about breaking them out into some light and regular water before long, go ahead and give them a jump. they do look good, but i think you'll be glad if they are bigger when you get to plant them outside. (don't worry, some one will be by to correct me if i'm wrong!)!
Hey Smokeymist,Welcome to Daves,Your babies are looking good.I'm a newbie in here too, sure is a great bunch of Brug lovers here,I'm sure you will feel right at home very soon.Where are ya from?Haven't seen if you said already,if you did,My bad.LOL
Hi Smokey and a big WELCOME! :)
Glad you joined the most crazy forum on DG. *lol* Thats just because we are passionate about Brugs, no - addicted to growing them :) Snow is right. Before you know it you'll have 50 different Brugs *lol* Your Brugs looks really fine. When their winter sleep is over be prepared to watch them grow fast into large bushes or trees with loads of flowers.

Hi Smokey. It is always good to see new people joining the rest of us on the brug forum at Daves. We might get a little crazy once in a while, but it is fun here and a very good place to have your questions answered. Your brugs look great but will be absolutely beautiful when they are grown and producing flowers. Hope you have lots of room for more. I started with one, four or five years ago, and last year had near 50 of them. I keep trying to cut back and then someone has a new one that "I just have to get". Hope to see you here often.
Shirley
Hi Smokey,
Welcome to the Brug forum.
Welcome to Daves Smokey. You'll be a addict before long like the rest of us.
Welcome .You're gunna love it here!
Bump:)
welcome Smokey!! hope you have a comfortable chair
Smoky - how cold are they in there?
Well, it varies....yesterday during the daytime the temps were in the upper 50's...last night it got down to 20 degrees. The other plants look happy and healthy, it's just this one.
20 degrees is too cold. I think you should bring them in the house! It might have got a touch of frost. Those plants look a little small for going dormant - and the cool temps might encourage rotting. I'd bring them inside if I were you. Maybe some others will have some advice. I'm no brug expert.... but I've had my share of cuttings rot on me!
Cheryl,
That is to cold for Brugs...where are they?
Good to see you Smoky as its always nice to see new Brug addicts.
