What A Great Way to Start 2003

I had some very special visitors yesterday and they stayed the night to bring in the New Year with us. I got a call from Susie from South Padre where they were vacationing and she said that they could come by for a visit on their way back way home even though I am probably more than an hour out of the way. I was so excited and surprised because Susie had thought that they might be able to come by on their way to South Padre but they decided to go another route so that they could visit some other sites and take Lauren to the River Walk in San Antonio. I was disappointed but I understood. So you can see why I was so happy when I received Susie's call. Anyway, they decided that they would stay the night and we stayed up until 1:30 talking and I feel we could have talked all night but we knew that they had to get on the road again today. Bill wanted to leave at 9:00 but it was 11:30 before they left. It is so hard to stop visiting when everyone is having such a good time. This was definitely a special New Year's Eve for us that we will always remember. Thanks Susie, Bill and Lauren for giving us this memory.

Wow, what a treat. You guys are all looking good. Must be the south Texas air,sunshine, and hospitality. Hope that Susie and family get home safely. Frannie, I'll bet you are a super hostess. You could make anyone feel at home. I'm happy for all of you that you were able to get together.

What a special treat for you. I hope Susie had a good restful vacation. Sure hope she comes back to daves soon. We miss her a lot.

So that's where Dr. Cal A. Lily is! Hi, sugar, you are looking real rested for someone who has been away from home, but you sure are missed in the garden. Glad you are having a nice vacation.

Kell . . It was easy I just used a PictureIt shell cutout because they had been vacationing at the beach.

And Gloria . . Lisa talked about coming out and visiting yesterday morning before they left but she did not even get home (her place) until 9:30 am New Year's day . . that's youth for you!!

I also hope to see Susie start visiting more often at DG's even though I know she is a really busy person. I miss all her expertise and photos.

Well I'm off the Louisianna . . it's a beautiful day and with a little luck, it might turn out to be an exciting day.

Thanks Frannie for a wonderful visit. You guys should see her back garden, it's so beautiful!! She's got 2 greenhouses crammed with plants(mostly brugs) and her DH is a great cook!!(hope I didn't spill a secret there, lol) Bill really enjoyed the visit too.
We stopped Wednesday evening to see Roz(always fun to visit with Roz too) and got home today around 2 pm. It's always a special treat to visit with gardening friends!!

Great to see you're back Calla! I hope you had a good vacation. I bet Frannie's place is gorgeous... even at this time of year. You must be awful trusting to leave your jungle house in someone elses hands while your gone. I don't know as I'd be able to leave it!

Cala, i know you must have had a great time. hope the beach was relaxing for you, sounds great. i can't wait to hear what you have blooming.

Our GH manager is very trustworthy.(Bill brought him fish from his fishing trip as a bonus). After checking on the house I went straight to the greenhouses to check on things. While I was gone, seed pods ripened, seeds sprouted and some of the brugs had buds!! Some things were on the dry side, but that's good when it's cool and cloudy.

Hi Gloria, things are going slow.... I am recovering from the holidays, it is nice to have my house back to myself. I will e-mail Johnnie this morning, I hadn't told her anything, she is such a sweet lady didn't want to worry her. I sure wish I could have been a mouse in her luggage.
