Jessie Noel needs a pollinator

I have a Jessie Noel blooming in the gh right now and I want to pollinate it with something special...any suggestions?

I think it was Monika that said yellow to yellow strengthens the yellow and pink pollen used on yellow produces mostly whites although I know there has been some great Brugs crossed with yellow and pink. Ocre would be my first choice if I had it or Jean Pasko, Tropical Sunset or one of the R's. Good luck Glory. Hope you get something great with whatever you cross it too.

Gloria, I wish I had something special to send you, but I don't. I agree with Snow about Jean Pasko. I think it could produce something very interesting and besides that I really like Jean Pasko.

Glory what else do you have blooming? Are you asking for pollen? I think I have a double white blooming and lots of yellow ones right now. They just keep on going.......amazing! I could get some of the double white off to you tomorrow first thing............ a double jesse noel......... I wish! but then isn't the double supposed to be the mother to have better chances of a double?

Glory, before i forget... i finally dug up your crinum yesterday, will hopefully mail tomorrow. would be nice to see a list of your pollens/choices. do you have any european ones? i have brugs blooming in slow motion, under my oak trees. the upside is the flowers last so much longer in the cold.

That is exactly what I was thinking about using....it would be nice to have the style of GoldTraum with the Aurea influence of Jessie.

I have some pollen...do you need any pollen to cross with your Double White? I could send you some E.Pink if you'd like. Roz was a dear and gave me a lot of her E.Pink pollen.

Glory, how did your golden lady seeds from last year do?
have to announce, i am a proud mama!!!!! found two of my kyles pink X PB/rosamond seeds popping up a few minutes ago!!! i posted when i picked the pod, remember saying i was gonna be selfish and plant them all which i did, and i think there were 29 or so seeds in them.
i am mean to them also, they have been outside since i planted them and i can't count the times it's been 30-32 degrees.

Arlene, I think my New Year's resolution is to have the attitude that you do about brugs and seeds. I know from experience the seeds that I don't think are all that important are just all thrown in a pot and covered with some soil. It always amazes me the number of seeds that sprout. Ones that I pamper are not nearly that successful. I will learn your lesson one day.

Gloria, Golden x Whiskers sounds like a nice cross. Can't wait to see pictures.

Thanks so much Glory.....but I am still waiting on my pods to mature. Hopefully they will do it by March for then I am going to really cut back the top canopies and trim the roots severely for their new pots. New pods would prevent that.
Did I read, maybe from Kyle, that EP produces a lot of white babies?
I had forgotten about your pollen bank. That will come in handy with all your brugs! I am anxious to see your Whiskers X Golden Lady mix. Also is your Species the one with the skirt that hangs way down? Please post pics of all your blooms but esp your HG and culebra. thanks

kell, i don't think EP in itself makes lots of whites. suavolens and versicolors in general do, as would a yellow X a pink. EP did a pretty good job for eric, Dr Suess X EP produced spring peach, doctor D, kyle's pink, etc, with a good portion of whites. i'm glad he did the cross though, as kyle's pink seems to grow and bloom faster than EP that it looks like. lots of whites mixed in though, at least from the seedlings he gave me.

Arlene, I had tons of whites too so don't feel bad. Frosty pink gave me the most whites though. Personally, I like the peach colors that my yellow x pinks gave me though. I would love to see Jessie or even whiskers crossed to L'amour personally. Something to strengthen the aurea genes and still keep the suaveolens and versicolor genes floating in the mix. Then perhaps work towards a double using that....I know I've heard suaveolens hybrids won't give doubles, but perhaps one with just a touch of suaveolens might.

I crossed Butterfly x Whiskers,Whiskers x Butterfly, Whiskers x EP, and Whiskers x DrD. I have no idea what will come out of those crosses but hopefully something nice. LOL

I just sowed seeds of Whiskers X BF, Whiskers X L'Amour, Whiskers X Rosamond and Whiskers X EP.

I don't have L'Amour or Rosemond....guess I could use Butterfly.

Glory, whatever you use to pollinate, I hope the result will be as vigorous and hearty as Jessie. I have had the best luck with Jessie blooming and growing and very little problem with bugs.

Roz, I agree, Jessie is a good one. She's done great for me. Becca Lynn is also good, in fact, she is blooming in the gh now. I hope by using Whiskers myself that I get something nice. A pink or peach with the vigor of Jessie would be great.

Glory, you can use Dr Suess also,or like someone said Ocre would be real nice.Jamaica yellow throws too many white offspring.

Anyone have any Ocre pollen....I don't have that one either.

so is CG a good breeder? No one ever seems to mention that one. thanks

CG is in Jessie Noel....Jessie is a Aurea gold x Charles G x Charles G. Jessie is pretty much a mutt like me...German, French, Irish, English and who knows what else. LOL

so Glory.....you had a plant that was a Aurea gold x Charles G and when it flowered you put some more CG pollen on it?
