Since I posted about my zoning woes on this forum, I will now share the fact that I met with the zoning board of review last night.............we were granted our conditional use permit for the greenhouse. The big reason we had to have a hearing was that we were using this building for a use other than it was made for. Jeez..........I would think they would be happy we weren't going to pollute and have noisy plants that they would have just said 'forget the hearing, have fun in the greenhouse". Oh, well, I am doing a happy dance here. Thanks for all the encouraging words from ya'll out there when I was venting about it and giving myself ulcers.
Zoning vs. greenhouse
Congrats...see it turned out OK for ya!
I am glad to read this.
Congrats

That's good news Anna. Now you can really enjoy your GH.
Yeah!Glad it worked out,Many happy Blooms!Root:)
Anna, I am so glad to hear the news. I didn't think you would have a problem, but as with most things, we have to go through all the petty stuff to get to the end. Now, after you get the Avid and spray a couple of times, your worries should be over. Have a Great New Year with the new business.

great Anna........ now your new brugs will have a home when I send them early spring. I want you to know they had a growth spurt and now are almost 2 feet tall.........lol. I may have to make you new ones in February if they continue to grow like this.
Kell, they would have had a home regardless, it just would have been an "illegal" one. :>) So, tomorrow being New Year's Day, I am having some friends over and we are having a Greenhouse New Year's party up in the g'house. Am rearranging pots like mad to make room. Munchies, soda, and hot spiced cider. I've asked everyone to bring a lawn chair and munchies to share. Should be a good time, wish all my good friends here could come too.
What fun............ wish I was there also!
Anna or Anyone Else,
If you want to put a small greenhouse on your own property in the city limits, do you need a permit? I'm dreaming of one of those you see in the gardening catalogs. Or, maybe just a homemade one?
Glad that everything worked out well regarding your greenhouse Anna. Relax and have some fun now!
Morph, I called my town clerk before putting my plastic 12 x 35 GH up and was told that as long as it was collapsable, meaning it could easily be taken down with no permanent frame and not built on a cement slab or wood floor I would'nt have to get a building permit or pay taxes on it.If it was made of glass or corragated panels I would have had to get a permit. Each town is different so you might want to check yours out.
Thanks, Snow!
Morph, I'm sure here in Wisconsin, you need a permit to blow your nose...........so I can't really say what you would need here, tho I'm thinking that if it isn't a permanant structure, you could get by without. And if someone would gripe about it, well, when somebody came to look it wouldn't be there cause you took it down!!! I think it is easy to confuse those governmental types.
LOL, Anna ~ I like the way you think! They are pretty strict where we are, too.
