Our local grocery store has a rack of bulbs but didn't sell many so now they are on sale. I bought a bag of De Caen anemones for 1/2 price. How deep should I plant them? Also, how do you tell the top from the bottom?
cheap anemones
My Sunset book says to plant the scarred side up( look for depressed scar left by base of last year's stem), setting 1 to 2 inches deep about 8 inches partt in rich light well drained loam. Ordinarily they are planted in fall.
One year I planted a pot of them and I really crammed a whole bunch in a very small space and I must say it was really pretty but was not very long lasting.
it will help both the bulbs and you if you soak the bulbs over night. start with warm water.
Well, thanks to both of you, I got them planted in an oblong plastic pot and put them outside. When the bloom, I will post it. Thanks.
they will produce stronger plants if planted in the ground.
