oli valittu päivän kuvaksi....
wow, your abilities as a photographer are supurb. What kind of camera did you use?
Oli vai? Täähän on ihan huonolaatunen.
Thanks wood, I don't think this picture is very good anyway.. I have Sony DSC-P50.
joo.
se on vähän hassu! hirmutarkka se ainakin on...otit se juuri sopivana aikana....
Ai tarkka? Ihan "mushy grainy" -taustakin tossa kuvassa.
Onkohan meillä mustaa pahvia/kartonkia kotona.. hmm
joo, kokeile ihmeessä......kotikuvauksessa se toimii hyvin!
Ok, if you 2 are gonna talk in another language, I will tell you a funny story. My husband and I had a young friend and he wondered what I wanted for my birthday. Jokingly I said that I would buy a steel bra if I could find one. Well, when my birthday rolled around, he gave me a thunbergia with a card. The card said, "I would have bought you a bra, but the blacksmith couldn't get it ready on time."
Steel bra?! 8) Who's blacksmith btw?
A blacksmith is a person who makes metal items, like wagon wheels, plow blades, and other implements. this was in the past of course, but there are some operating who make decorative iron pieces.
I see, a new word to me. We call it "seppä" in Finland.
"metalliseppä"
Well, Mitjo and Evert, both of you can use Finnish here but make sure that you translate your replies to English so that we too can make out. I think this point arose earlier too in some thread.
Evert, what is the approximate diameter of the flower when it is open?
Dinu, if we speak personally, what's the point? Remember, English is our second language, to most others here it is the 1st, they don't understand what it's like having to translate everything.
The flower is about 4 cm wide I think?
In that case, mention just one word 'personal' in English and go ahead with Finnish conversation! I don't think anybody will object.
When I went to Pune last November, I picked up some seeds of this plant from a hedge and the flower was just about an inch wide. I will sow them this May/June. Because we are awaiting a dry summer and it is not suitable to start seeds.
Evert, I tried growing Thunbergia two or three times and just about the time they got to blooming nicely the spider mites were so bad i just got rid of the vines. I do like them but decided not worth the problem trying to keep the spider mites off. I dont' like using any poison sprays, am pretty much an organic gardner. Ruth Olive (Donna)

Dinu, the flower size can vary, sometimes they are pretty small.
I collected some seeds from a white Ipomoea-looking vine in Goa two years ago. haven't sowed them yet, maybe I should try this spring. No idea what it is :}
Spider mites killed my vine too...
