about an hour ago, 11ish, i checked the temperature and it was -6!!!

I'm sorry Baa. The Lachenalia you sent me this year are dead and it's my fault. I covered them with sheets of newspaper and left them on a shelf in the greenhouse. I didnt expect it to get so cold for a second night. :-(

Wow, you must be freezing x) -3,7 here.

I'm sorry about yout Lachenalias. I hope my Magnolia is ok, wish him luck.. We'll see in the Spring then. Maybe it is just a dead stick. Very expensive stick anyway, 250 Swedish krones.

Magnolias are hard

I hope so. But our climate is much colder than yours. We do have snow anyway, it covers many plants, but I also put some leaves and such around the magnolia. Mine is M. hypoleuca.

you should wrap in straw held in place with a wire cage. how tall is the tree?

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Hmm, about 80-110 cm? Not sure.

does it lose it's leaves? if so wrap it asap

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

It dropped them in October already... I put some more snow on it. And it has got a wolleen hat :)

so you are going to wrap it up for the winter? I know snow insulates so I suggest you put a tube of wire around out leaveing a 12 inch gap between tree and wire. pack the space with straw and then pack snow on the outside and top. any farmer or someone with horses will give you straw.

Ahh well, lucky I didn't send the viridiflora then :)

i know i'm soooo stoopid for doing too much manana

Let me know if you want some bulbs again in the early summer, I've still got 3 pots of L. alioides

looks like only the tips of the Lachenalias leaves are damaged. fingers crossed!

I'm gonna have to insulate the greenhouse next winter and get a decent heater.
