You have a "green thunb". Nice plant! I have salmon and rose bloomed already.

Fayette, MO(Zone 6a)

It is fabulous!

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

Glory, what you feeding that plant? Really pretty cactus. The Easter cactus start I'm sending you could use whatever you're using on the Christmas cactus.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Beautiful!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

wow thats full!!!!

Thanks y'all....this plant sits in the GH all summer and gets no attention...might be Roz's VH11 fertilizer.
Question....has anyone ever had a Christmas Cactus drip clear sticky stuff. It's a shame I don't have any hummers here to collect the liquid.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Never noticed Christmas cactus doing it, but cut a Clivia leaf and it oozes yellow sticky stuff.

G,
I haven't even cut anything on this cactus....the clear sticky is coming from the unpicked flowers.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

?? Never saw anything like that.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Glory, if you put it outside you might be surprised, some hummers might just come for it. it's a beauty.

Arlene,
Never thought of that. LOL

I sure would like to know if it is normal for them to drip that sticky clear stuff.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Glory.......are you using VH11??? did Roz get the free sample fromt the website I had posted?

Kell,
Yes, I'm using VH11 but not sure if it's samples....the size of the container is a gallon size. Everything is looking great in the greenhouse...it must be working.

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

What a dazzler! I have to wait a few more years (maybe decades) before my little 4" Zygo gets that size. I don't feed mine, so it might be a while. It does bloom nicely, and this year even bloomed at Christmas like its supposed to (last year it bloomed in Jan/Feb). It was pretty while it lasted. So where do you get this VH11 fertilizer and how much is it? Here's last year's bloom...

sorry, I`m very new and I am not conversant with all things in here, but doesn`t Christmas Cactus belong houseplants?

Mitjo,
Yes, the Christmas Cactus is a house plant at this time of the year....it is a little to cool here at nights to leave it outside. I live in the Southern part of the United States so our weather doesn't get as cold as a lot of the US.
Butterfly,
I don't know where Roz got the VH 11...maybe Kell knows.

Ok!

Well I guess I'm in here now too,Thought I would take a look at cacti since I just found this one sitting on the porch,I am amazed at yours Glory,Butterfly I love yours too very nice color. You guys have me excited, only thing is you will have to tell me how to get this baby looking like the two above,She is pot bound in my opinion, and very dry, should I repot and soak it down or does it need some dormant time after blooming?
BTW,This is how someone gets the name Rootfatale,it's 38 on the porch,LOL!

Root: I don't do anything special with mine as far as feeding. It gets rain water. You should let it get quite dry in between waterings. It is a succulent and doesn't have the water needs like the tropical houseplants. If you water it too much, it won't bloom as well. I put mine in full sun (south window) and water it when the soil is pretty much rock hard. Mine is still in the pot I bought it in three or four years ago. It doesn't seem to be suffering much and it is blooming. Oh, and it does need a dormancy period. I think its supposed to be in winter like around now. If it's bone dry, I'd give it a little water but not a lot.

Thanks Butterfly,This one is gonna be a challenge to me,I love to water,Sure hope I can do it,I believe mine is a red ,it had some old dead blooms inpot,DW got it for 2 bucks,so if i can get it to live I'll be quite Happy,Maybe someday I'll get the waterfall effect Glory has,May have to get anouther bacause I love the color of yours,Thanks again for the advise.:)Rtdr.

Rootdr: Be careful not to overwater. I pretty much ignore mine. It can get quite dehydrated and be just fine. There have been a couple of times where I forgot to water it for about a month while it was sitting in the hot FL summer sun. It was really dry and the leaves were withering. I gave it a good dousing of water, and it recovered. It also bloomed for me at Christmas--right on schedule.

There are many colors. I have seen salmon, red, pink, white, white tipped with pink (which is the one I showed above), and a pale yellow. I got the yellow one this year. Here's a picture of the yellow one.

Thanks,I did give it a good drink,I think it was in the trunk for a week,I lifted it and it doesn't seem to be pot-bound,I'll try to forget it for awhile.LOL

Root,
mine sits in the GH most of the time and it gets water when I remember....when you have CRS like I do that's not often. LOL
