Dee (DeeinFl) and I went to Exotic Plumerias Saturday. Wow!! What a place! Sorry, didn't get the names of these flowers, maybe Dee will know some of them.

These people were SO friendly and knowledgable. Here's a link to their website http://www.exoticplumeria.com/. Highly recommended. They ship all over the world too. They were putting together a shipment for Puerto Rico...huge trees.

Trying to give you an idea of the size of some of the plants. The biggest was about 50 years old.

They were so happy with all of Dee's purchases that they gave her AND me a free cutting! Thanks Dee!

Wow so pretty, I would like to have few seeds.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

Boy Stacey, this makes me want to go right back there. If I remember correctly the yellow one is Celadine, but not sure if the pink one is candy stripe or not.

Chipley, FL(Zone 8a)

DR, we didn't get any with flowers on them yet, all we got were the "sticks"..

The one on my list I reallly want is $150 for a cutting, no roots, nothing but a stalk.... name - Confetti, this will make your mouth water (if you like plumerai), LOL

Love those, did you guys have fun?
The picture in the GH looks like the forests up here, bare necket,at first I thought that was what I was looking at...
LOL
I have one like the yellow one, never had a name for it,my other 2 haven't bloomed so no clue what colors they are, love that dark redish pink one.

Are they hard to grow from seed? Do they sell seeds?

Ya know, come to think about it ,mine have not lost their leaves yet, they are in the GH

Dripping Springs, TX

CC they are very easy to grow from seed. My DH planted 12 seeds and all 12 came up. They were fine until the deer ate them to stubs. The deer aren't suppose to eat them because their a member of the Apocynaceae family. I think that family includes oleanders, mandevillas, periwinkles and allamandas. But "They" say everything is bigger in Texas--I guess that means the deers appetite too.

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh no Vik!! Wish we'd known! We tried to get by the store, talked about it several times but were either too early or too late. We're going to get together in the spring and do it again. Exotic Plumerias must be incredible when everything is in bloom. We'll make sure to plan ahead so you have the day(s) off.
CC, this place doesn't sell seeds that I'm aware of. Just un rooted or rooted cuttings.

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

I visited the nursery last year, what a collection! When I was there I thought $60 for a cutting was high, but $150, I would have to sell all my plants for that one. I left all three plumerias when I sold our house back in Aug.

Tampa, FL(Zone 9b)

Tim, run over to the house while the new owners are at work and get some cuttings....they'll never know!!! (LOL)

Palmyra, VA(Zone 7a)

That's a good idea, but I'm no longer in FL, am living in VA now.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

ohh, looks like fun! What a place.

Dee,
I had very good luck growing the plumeria in the ground here last summer...right now they are just hanging from a rod in the gh....no soil no nothing.

Homestead, FL(Zone 10b)

Good morning. I'm new to Dave's Garden and this forum. I also love Plumerias and I own five small plants; four were purchased from Florida Colors Nursery, located in Homestead, FL.

Florida Colors Nursery has very reasonable prices and the owners, Carol and Luc, are super nice and knowledgeable people. They sell their plumerias nationwide, to other nurseries and to individual consumers. They will also graft and root cuttings received from customers. Their website is: http://www.floridacolors.com

Welcome to DG delecie. I think Florida Colors was one of the nurseries on Dee's list. One of these days we'll just have to make a trip down there and take a look!

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Welcome to DG delecie
Stacy I got to get over there and check it out

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Welcome delecie!
Floridian and Irish, let us know how that other place is, inquiring minds want to know.

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

I am going to wait untill after the hollidays but will let you all know when I do

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

Hi Pete, you'll be amazed at this place. It's just a forest of sticks. We were talking of going back in the spring...I can imagine this forest of sticks in bloom.
Weeds, Dee had a list of Florida nurseries recommended by gardeners. We got to 2 of them, EP and Beckett Lake in Clearwater. We (Paul and I) will hit Homestead's Florida Colors when we head to the south to dive. Hard to believe Paul hasn't seen the Keys yet.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Hey! Do you do underwater photography too?

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

I would if the casing wasn't so danged expensive! LOL It's more than the camera was...someday...

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Isn't Justmelisa a diver too?

Lutz, FL(Zone 9b)

She sure is...are you??

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)
