Does anybody know about propagating a rubber tree?

Just lop off a branch and stick it in dirt.

Does it need any root tone?

I don't know- I have never used root tone for any cuttings I've ever taken. I didnt need it for my rubber trees.

Great I'm out of it anyway so I'll just lop away! Thanks for the info.

Psssst. I moved your photo and the other photo on this entry to Ficus elastica: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/718/, which is the "real" rubber tree.

The hardy rubber plant (Eucommia ulmoides) looks like this: http://www.floraguide.es/arboles/Eucommiaulmoides.htm and is described as having eliptic, toothed leaves in most descriptions (which is borne out by this photo.)

does anyone know if I can cut the top to make my rubber tree thicker at the bottom? It's getting REALLY tall, but sparse and lanky.

I trim mine and it seems to make it bigger, but not much
