kell its named after Rosalind Sarver of San Marcos Calif. She was considered the Queen of Cannas. She loved yellow brugs I gave her so when she died I named this one after her.

Eclipse-That is a lovely tribute to Rosalind Sarver of San Marcos, Calif. You have honored her memory, which will live on in an exquisitely beautiful fragrant Brug. Thank you for sharing it with us :~)

Kyle,do you know if her nursery closed when she died? I did a search and can't find it on line. What a great life she must have had, doing what she loved right up to the end of such a long life.

I do not think I have ever seen a picture of your Mona Onstot. Do you have one to post?
thanks

Beautiful Kyle!

kell,
The nursery was originally azaleas..then split into cannas and azaleas. The kids sold the area for homes right after she died. What a crime. It had been in the family for 60 years. She was still working the canna fields till she died at 98.She was a great Plantswoman.A pioneer in the field. :-)

Too bad about her farm. There was a big stink here when Bernard McLaughlin died. His son wanted to sell the property and move his garden. The locals had a fit. The garden was started in 1936. They started a big fundraiser to save it and finally raised enough money to buy it. It's kinda sad to think of all the wonderful gardens that aren't saved.
