I sure hope everybody is warm and I hope nobody has had any bad problems with this cold front.
Good Morning!
Good Morning Roz. I hope so also.
What cold front? We are suppose to get up to a balmy 41 degrees today....28 tomorrow!
i hope not also. 38 here, not supposed to go back in the 30s for a week. this is ood news.... maybe a cutting will root....
It want in the 40's last nite here but will get in the 70's for a high with lots of sunshine......don't you just love winter.....lol
Pete, we're gonna get you!
Good morning Roz, well we had electric all day yesterday for the first time since the ice. So I guess that is a good thing, how is your weather there?
Morning Roz,
Guess what I had at a feeder this morning, freezing and all, yes a hummer. We are going to band it later today, hopefully.
Larry, what a surprise! Looks like I will have to wait until March to get one again.
Weather here was supposed to get to about 28 or so and was predicted to last 6-9 hours at that temp. Most unusual for us. Traacy, I hope you don't have electric heat!
Good Am Roz! Here is cold 34 degrees so glad that my DH did fixed the tempority green house for my plants to keep warm with light on and now it has ice on top of water bowl outside today. BBBBRRRR
Gosh, most of you sound like you live in Iowa. Too bad the south is so cold right now. Hope that doesn't mean that you will have more of it this winter than usual.
Roz it is sunny and 48 here now and is suppose to be about 70 today. Another beautiful day but rain is expected later in the week. I hope it warms up a little for those who are having such cold temps.
Normally, our temp would be like you Florida folks' weather but not last nite. It is early to have such a cold spell; usually this is right after Christmas.
Red Rose, I sure am glad you had that heater in your gh; it got real cold here, too. Brugie, I hope this don't mean a real cold winter, too. We just don't know how to deal with real cold weather, our pipes freeze , etc. cause we just don't have them insulated like you probably do in Iowa.
I hope you don't have problems too. Yes, our pipes are insulated, but this year the ground is so dry and there is no snow cover that we will surely have lots of broken water pipes. I've noticed a couple of broken water mains in town already and the ground isn't even frozen hard. Good luck you guys. Hope there is a big turn around in your weather so you can relax and enjoy your flowers.
We do have eletric heat, and it got down to 39 in the greenhouse at one time, I am on a mission today to find a gas back-up. The house didn't get that bad, but the 10yr. old got "Really bored MOM"
Eyes, even your temps sound really good to us up North. Late today a cold front is to push through, so we will be back in the freezer again. Maybe for several months.
Good morning ALL :)
Eyes... we almost have the same temperatures. when i got up this a.m., it was 46*F, we are also expecting lower 60ish today. midnight was 36*F.
hi Ma Vie, our temps were the same though I do not know if it got down to 39 at midnight
Here is 58 temp and tonight 40* not bad no need light on GH. =) My plants look fine.
Our day was nice for December, but nothing like you are having Frannie and RR. Wish I could enjoy some of the nice weather with you.
wow what a great picture Frannie......love it!!
Frannie,
All my outside Brugs got fried last night....Booo Hooo
Thats so sad.
Mine too, Glory. Looks like the a bomb hit my back yard - banannas, brugs, everything looks really bad. But it will be okay soon.
Too early and too cold for the Beach Girls to be outside bare footing it this morning. It is a shame that we have to get freezing temps for 2 nights then no freezing temps predicted for the next week, just rainy and cool. Ya'll keep them tootsies warm.
I had to get up and see how bad it is outside. It is bad.But I knew it would happen, and I know it won't be like that forever. I have lots of work in front of me.
Roz, i admit it, i am a natural gardener. i do best throwing brug seeds in the ground, and when the winter napalm hits, i just leave it like it is. i will water every few weeks if it doesn't rain to make sure roots don't dry out, get stressed and die with a future hard frost. if i cut stuff back and it stays warm and starts growing, i always think a hard frost will kill completely. not with brugs i don't think out of 40 something i only had one not come back last year and it was where it was planted. i didn't have nanas til a couple of years ago, and figured out last year the hard way that you can cut back the dead stalk maybe a foot or less and hit the growing tip. last spring my dh cut the ele ele's back to the ground, much lower than their growing tips.
It sure is sad to see the last ones go down for the winter.
Hummernut,
I was up and about this morning at 4am...couldn't sleep. I was at Walmart at 5:30am now it's time to go take a short nap. LOL
Good morning everyone. I believe that is the time to go Glory, I went to go into Kmarts yesterday on my way coming back from my dad's and almost got hit twice before I could even get my car parked, decided the heck with it and continued on home.
