NEW ROOTING METHOD

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

When I cut back the brugs a couple of weeks ago I didn't have time to do anything with the cuttings so I placed them in a plastic bag from Walmart and haven't had time to do anything with them until today. Some of them had rooted in the bag. I mean roots all the way up the stalk. Insignis Pink and Ursuline were the two with the most roots. I think if some one had the time to check on them regularly it would be a good way to root them. Then they could be cut in smaller cuttings because the cutting would have roots all over it. Just wanted to pass this along. If anyone decides to try it please let me know how it works out. Jim

That is so cool. When I have extras, will try it.

No moisture???

Great idea. Did you close up the bag or how did you do it exactly. I'm thinking that maybe some of those harder to root ones might root this way.

I just had them in the bag and had them all separated according to what they were. The bags were closed but not tied up or anything. There was moisture in the bag and I think it was moisture that the cuttings had in them that came out. Also probable some sweating. However they were on the stairs that goes to our bottom floor (once a basement) and even though it is heated we don't spend a lot of time in that area so I keep the vents sort of closed but some heat does creep in. I was really amazed at how they had rooted. I think I'll try some and keep a close eye on. I have plenty of white left that I haven't done anything with.

Think I'll try it on EP and my White Pearl X Big. Can't get those to root. Thanks a bunch.
