Hi Gals
It's weighing day.
I'm now 131 lbs!!! This is all very good for my morale.
It is said it's harder to lose weight when you're 54 but this has been the easiest yet! I think it's because I'm now home-based and don't have the temptations in all those shops and restaurants (and from colleagues) I had earlier. Unlike poor Pebble, my two men want to lose weight as well, which is a big help.No comments about wasted food/hot bread in the evening, etc. Instead I get "Wow, this is good - will I really lose weight eating this?"
My days being filled with translating, weaving, embroidering, gardening, cooking, housework, chatting on-line (with Psilo and my daughter in Panama), writing letters and emails (and Christmas cards, at the moment) - I don't have a lot of time to stop and ask myself if I'm hungry!
Also, the low fat cooking has become a habit. I do an occasional check and count the calories and fat for the day and am always between 1000 and 1200 calories and about 22% fat. Plus, I'm not hungry and I don't get cravings so I must have got the balance right. When I've lost another 4 lbs (and am down at a BMI of 23 or just under)I'll raise the calories to 1500 and hope to remain stable there. Between now and then is just cosmetic weight loss. I also want 3 to 4 kg (6 to 8 lbs) between my weight and that barrier of 60 kg (c. 134 lbs. Weekly weighing will continue.
So, with a BMI of 23.6, I feel I've just about made it and it's no small thanks to you all. Knowing I had to check in every Monday really kept me in line, especially at the beginning.
Right - from now on it's wholemeal bread, lots of fruit and vegetables, low fat with a little lean meat and fish - for life!!!!!
Thank you ladies - and keep at it - you can do it too.
It's Samichlaus day today (St Nicholas' Day) so eat those satsumas/mandarins but leave the nuts and gingerbread for the children! Have a good one!
