visited my GH this morning . All sides of the GH were covered with beautiful patterns but it looked so cold.So far it's staying at 50 degrees daytime temp with no sun out and the lowest it's gone at night is 44. The Brugs seem to be doing fine with this and some are even growing buds.

Cool!! Literally..........Good to hear the temps are staying up. Hope you don't get a bunch of that below zero stuff.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

We are in for our first winter storm tonight, I rushed around saw 13 patients, ran to the store, grabbed the basic's. I am ready. They are calling for freezing rain, then snow.....yuck!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

gee, we have a foot and a half on the ground and expecting 6 to 8 inches tonite

Want some of mine?

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

cc I'll take some....just send it ups next day....lol

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wow CC! That's some snow for this time of year. No snow for us tonight but it's only 2 degrees out now so I'm sure it will be below 0 tonight.

Y'all are making me cold "stop it". I beleive it was 70º today but it will be cooling off later this week.... it doesn't last long.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

It was 71 here yesterday, now it's cold and raining, will be turning to snow tonight.

TLynn, you still have a little time. I'm just west of Tulsa, the temp dropped to freezing about 4:30, so far the trees are icing up, but it doesn't look like anything else is yet, and the snow hasn't started.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

You are making me very cold too! 2 degrees is beyond my imagingation and then to go below 0. When it occassionally it gets into the low 40's during the day, I think that is extreme cold. I just don't know how ya'll stay warm.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I heard that Georgia, Tennessee, and some of the other southeastern states are going to have some bad weather either tonight or tomorrow. The station I was listening to said freezing rain and snow for them. Hope not.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

It has almost been to cold to go out at have a smoke while at work. High of 9 forgot what the wind chill was.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Yep - we are gearing up for an ice storm, up to 2 inches of sleet & freezing rain by tomorrow night, snow predicted for the No side of Atlanta where my kids live. The worst will be even farther north in the Mts. about 70 no of us. The temp will dip to the 20's. Brrrrr! This is why I left Illinois so many years ago!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Well it got here! This morning when I first got up, the power was out. It came back on about 30 minutes ago, ran turned everything on in my greenhouse man it was cold in there. Pray that it doesn't go back out.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Glad you were able to catch it - I worry about that here too. Our utilities are under ground so don't have to worry about down powerlines, but it still goes out sometinmes.

(Zone 6a)

Azalea, you should have moved to Miami:) Wish I had!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hope you all get by with no damage or power outages.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

On again, off again, all morning.....Looks like we have aleast a inch of ice on everything. The first time I can get to town, I am going after a gas heater, maybe it will be OK to use it just when to power goes down?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Tracey, I hope that the roads are cleared of ice for you to drive. An inch of ice doesn't sound like a lot of fun. Hope you stay safe and the power doesn't go off again.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Tracey, Be careful. I'm used to driving in the snow but I hate ice.If you buy a gas heater make sure it's one that doesn't need electricity. Many do.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Well I don't think I will be going anywhereto soon, I hate ice too! The school just called, some of the kids where going to St.Louis tomarrow to see C.Dicken's play Christmas Carol, but it is cancelled..That was a close one, I thought I was going to have to be the bad guy. I don't know what I was thinking, I should have thought about put in a little gas heater for emergencies.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Tracey, just got your email. I sure hope you get connected soon. Just stay home and be safe and warm!!! Hard to carry on without you!!

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

YEP! We're one of the states to get pounded with snow tomorrow too!!!

Kids love it because they cancel school when there is a couple of inches of snow on the ground. However, shoveling the driveway and then trying to drive to work, before I've had my 3rd cup of coffee, doesn't sound like much fun to me :~(

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Tracey, how far are you from Poplar Bluff or Dudley MO. It sounds like you probably live in N MO. Hope your weather improves and you are able to get that gas heater so that you won't have to worry about your plants when the weather gets so bad that you loose electricity.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Nanny only about 40 minutes from Poplar Bluff, do you know someone here? I think we are closer to Dudley, we are east of Dexter.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Tracey, Good to see you here. I was worried you might have lost power yesterday.I heard the icestorm was bad out your way. Glad you're safe.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Lots of ice! Little snow....

Glad to see you've got power and are safe. There's a storm heading this way but the news said that southern New England will get hit the worst.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh snow, I pray you have a really easy winter. you have so many babies and I know it's going to get expensive to heat that greenhouse. I hope all the storms miss you!!! I really hope that things will turn around and the rest of winter will be mild.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Me too tiG. I feel more sorry though for our southern friends who are not used to the snow and ice and then get hit with a big snow or ice storm. It can be devastating to them.
We are usually prepared for winter up here by Nov. 1st. Plenty of firewood, snow tires on cars, empty milk jugs for water, etc. This extreme -0 weather we are getting now usually doesn't hit us till Jan or Feb so I have a feeling this will be a very long and expensive winter. :(

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I just got back from Scranton PA and it was NASTY down there!!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

So glad you made it back safely CC. I don't envey the TT drivers in bad weather. It can be a very dangerous job.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

My brotherinlaw is on his way back from southern PA,a tractor trailer is jack knifed, the whole highway,(rt 81) is blocked,he doesent expect to get back till 10 tonite now....

We were not suppose to get snow up here, north of Syracuse but it just started snowing......

I don't mean to bust everyone's bubbles but I believe we are in for a hasrh winter. I am a avid bird watcher and photographer and I am seeing birds that I only see when we have a harsh winter here in the deep south. I have seen the Whited-winged Dove, Pine Siskin and today I have a hummingbird that I have never had in winter. These are western birds although the books say some winter here I only have them in long cold winters. They are predicting 28 degrees for us by Sunday night I think. Today the temp has gone from 51 at 4:00 a.m. to 40 as of 3:30 p.m. today. I hope I am wrong because I hate the cold dreary weather. I like running around wearing shorts on Christmas and Valentines day. LOL.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Donna, I sure hope you are wrong. I'm living in colder weather than usual at this time of the year also. Would love to just bypass the next three or four months and go into spring right now. We have a lot of snowbirds (juncos) right now and that is about all. Normally I see lots of Cardinals, Chickadees, and Nuthatches. Just nothing. Maybe they are visiting you instead. Have been watching the squirrels and they are working very hard burying nuts and even taking them into their nests. I'm sure to have lots of trees growing in my flower beds and large planters that I can't take in during the winter, when spring temps finally get here.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Donna, i posted back in september i thought winter would be early and nasty here, dog fennels bloomed early and my last hummers left the last week of september, earliest i've seen since i've been watching them.
is your hummer still there? i have an immature here, rufous or allen, but i think rufous as i see no green on it. i saw two the first day, rushed to set up a feeder. at least one has been here since last monday or tuesday. one night was under freezing 5-6 hours, he did just fine. it's my first winter hummer, and i have never heard of anyone in this area having a winter hummer before. i think we've already had more light frosts than we did all last winter. january is usually the worst month here. hummernut says if it's still here mid january, some banders are going to be in tally and will probably come to band him/her and identify.

We're having a really mild winter. I have brugs blooming outside still. They're very pale except the sanguineas. I haven't had enough of a frost yet to make the leaves die back. My forsythia is already budding out and my Viburnum bodnantense is flowering now and it usually flowers in February. They say it is going to be an El Nino year.

Guess you guys need a trip to the Wet Coast.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

My bubble is now burst!

I wanna winter like last year,I still had flowers blooming in the garden at this time last year.

But the 2 feet of snow sitting outside is not unusual for this area, the cold temps are not that far off the mark either.

I just DO NOT BELONG HERE!!!

Saint Petersburg, FL(Zone 9b)

gee the only sign of winter here the navel oranges are ripe......lol

CC, I'm going to see some of that snow at Christmas. My daughter lives North of Toronto and I'm going to visit for 4 days. I don't even own a pair of winter boots or gloves.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

WOW,you're gunna be within hours of me
wonder how far Toronto is from Buffalo NY
Buffalo is 2 1/2 hours from here

Are you gunna be there a while

I would drive up there to meet you!
