THE MOST FRAGRANT BRUGS ARE:

(Zone 6a)

Would love to see a list of everyone's most fragrant brugs, along with information about color and frequency of blooming. This would be very helpful to newbies as well as some of us oldies:)

My contributions:

Dr. Seuss.........yellowish-orange......flushes every 4-5 wks.
Versicolor Peach.....peachy color.......flushes every 4-5 wks.

I have not had PERSONAL experience with very many varieties yet. Wouldn't it also be wonderful, in this cold dreary winter weather, if each of us also posted a pic. in this thread showing one of his/her favorite FRAGRANT brugs? Here is pic. of my Dr. Seuss from last summer.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

For fragrance whiskers and versi peach so far.......

whiskers gets my "doesent quit bloomin award"!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Owen that picture amazes me every time I see it,I need a scratch an sniff monitor

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Too die for tree, Owen. I bet it stopped traffic!

(Zone 6a)

yep....it really was a beauty....most traffic did slow down:)

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

My unnamed white (monster brug) is the sweetest smelling one I have had to bloom so far. It is like a rose.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Dr. Suess, Whiskers, and V. Orange are my favorites with a little Butterfly thrown in for good measure. I agree with CC on Whiskers' ability to bloom continually.

(Zone 6a)

So why don't I have a Whiskers if it blooms so much?? *hint*

(Zone 6a)

Come on you guys.....I know each of you can contribute to this thread:)

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

sorry Owen, i wish i had a Whiskers too :(!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Don't get me going Owen,Just got Whiskers form Gloryron,an I'm ecstatic! Thanks Gloryron! glad to see it placed well in the smellin department

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Veris. Orange is probably my favorite as far as fragrance, then Dr. Seuss and Whiskers. Owen, I can send you a cutting of Whiskers . . email me and MaVie I can send you one also.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

owen, I had no idea, could have sent you one, and you too MaVie.
maybe next year we can have lists on our trade page we can look up when we're already sending a box out.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

You can count on me to share next year, now that I see how these are propagated,I cant believe all the plants I composted :( never know Owen may have to share one of these babies I got if it roots.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Owen, I didn't offer Whiskers because you said it wasn't yellow enough for you. I had extra too. You will love the fragrance from this one and the foliage is also nice. I like the blooms myself even tho they aren't bright, but have never seen a brug bloom I didn't like for some reason and this one happens to be for the fragrance first, long tendrils and shape second, and color last. Trust me, you will like it.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Whiskers, Sunray, Butterfly, DrD, Milk N Honey, and Dr Seuss all smelled great this summer and bloomed well.
Owen, If you want a nice deep yellow then you must get Becca Lynn.

Dripping Springs, TX

Owen --None of my brugs smell very good --yet--their all stinky stumps. Everybody that has some blooming should go right now---and smell them for me....I'm waiting.....grin (owen you need to put your pants on first..LOL)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL DR!!! poor Owen will never live that down.

I am noticing that mine are no longer odiferous in winter. My CG is full of blooms and usually it emits a sweet intense smell.........now hardly a whiff!

DR,
Your as such a hoot...just as bad as Kell...just joking girls. LOL

Owen,
What have you been doing with all your Burgs I have been sending to you. What are you doing to all the cuttings I have sent you in the last year...Owen are you cooking these things. LOL I know you have been adding Brug cuttings to your cake. LOL

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh that's what that special ingredient is!!!

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Owen, I think Jessie Noel smells real good, and just blooms and blooms and blooms!

rural, WY(Zone 3a)

My favourite is x knightii, it's quite different from what I see as a sickening sweet of CG. It was also my best brug in the garden this year, which means it was amazing because it was neglected terribly.

(Zone 6a)

Thanks for the input guys.

I have a JN, but it only had a couple blooms on it. Was loaded when frost hit here in mid-Oct., so they did not get to open.

Glory....I have had great success with the burgs cuttings you have sent me. Generously gave most of them away here locally though. Am going to try the James next summer, along with JN again for sure. The Species cutting was too green for me....lost it. How is the fragrance on the versicolor white? It is growing nicely.

Owen,
I knew you were a very giving person but you have just proved me right.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Becca Lynn gets my vote.Fragrant and a good repeat bloomer.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Owen, had your neighbors ever even heard of brugs before you started growing them? I bet they are thrilled with you!

(Zone 6a)

Kell....only one here locally that I know of had brugs. She has more now though:) LOL

That Becca Lynn sounds good. May have to try that one someday. Getting too cold to try to ship or receive brugs here now....ole man winter is getting nasty:)

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well Dr. Suess has a vote here. Also the Citronella is also a vote getter.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I can't believe no one mentioned Pink Beauty, mine was very fragrant during the hot summer nights. And Cherie Amour is very fragrant too.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

My PB is little and hasn't bloomed yet but there is a bud growing on it. :)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

tig my PB is fragrant, but not nearly so as butterfly... thank goodness.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

My PB/Rosamond didn't have much fragrance at all. It would have been a real beauty with the fragrance added to it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh NO Owen, I guess I will have to keep those I had rooting for you till spring. I hope they are not trees by them..........LOL

(Zone 6a)

Kell....you can always cut 'em up and use for firewood:) Or we can hope for a few days of above-freezing weather yet this winter to transport them. LOL

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I think when you send stuff Priority, it is always warm enough unless your postman leaves the package in your mailbox on a cold day. Bubble wrap helps insulate too, so I wouldn't be afraid to mail out right now. Brugs can take it pretty chilly anyway. An African Violet would be a different story. :-)

(Zone 6a)

The packages sit in the mailman's jeep for about 6 hrs. before he gets to my house with them. Don't know how cold they get between post offices. Brrrrr am shivering just thinking about it. LOL

Tampa, FL(Zone 9b)

I just want to say thank you oblambert for starting this topic. I wrote down everyone's favorite so I can have a wish list of the most fragrant ones. Thanks!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

well I have tons of plant here Owen, so we can try as soon as they are well rooted.............. LOL an experiment!! also I will soon have logees double white cuttings all rooted up............... I did alot. You may want to try that one. It was not the one I wanted or ordered, but it is sure pretty!
