I love the Nicotiana plants. The plants grow well here in Iowa and bloom until frost. I checked the labels from my plants last year and they only state "Nicotiana" and I assume these were the original woodland variety. They were vigorous plants and prolific bloomers.

I ordered "Only The Lonely" seeds for the first time this year from Shepherd Seeds and planted them yesterday.

"Only The Lonely" is suppose to be a shorter, more refined form of woodland nicotiana with leaves that grow 2 ft. long and as much as 1 ft. across. The blooms are reported to have a fragrance similar to jasmine.

I hope my seeds survived last nights hard rain.

The rabbits and ground squirrels leave this plant alone. This is always a plus for me. Anything the wildlife ingnores gets planted again.

I had two nicotiana plants come back from the roots despite a very cold winter here in Ohio. I was so surprised! I'd pulled the dead plants out in early March, but must have missed the roots and crowns of these two. Wooo-hoooo! And you can bet I'll be saving seed from them. When do you harvest nicotiana seed, and how should it be stored?

Only The Lonely Nicotiana reseeds it's self freely for me here in Ohio. In fact in one bed I've had to pull it out like weeds this year but it's still one of my favorite plants. I also transplanted some of the plants. Hubby and I both love the fragrance.
