I pollinated this one in April, must I really wait for December?
Itīs my first sangpod.
I am afraid that the seeds will germinate in this pod and will die.
Can anyone help me, please.

9 Months--Like givin' birth huh!
lightly squeez and see if you feel any movement of seeds trying to rub together inside - if not leave alone
if you do leave alone also but it's getting closer
I just hate to wait too.
but I even opened one last night to early :-(

Leave it alone until it is ripe. I have a pod on my Jessie Noel. It's been since July and still hanging. Lot of patience. I moved it to my temporary greenhouse and watch it close..
I now understand the desire to get your pod ripe and picked. It is so slow!!! My first pods and can't stand it. Last night there were 60 mile an hour winds. We had to go out and reinforce the hoop house and all I could think of was that if the hoop house went airborne my pods would not make it! Early this morning at first light I ran to he window and thank god it is still standing in one piece!
Kell, I saw on the news about the winds and wondered if you were okay. Glad your hoop house survived.
It was a long night, I could hear the hoop house flapping and the winds swirling. after I got off with you last night, we went out again and tried to weigh it down more. It was swaying so much in the wind. the PVC hoops have lots of give thank god! I was sure it was just going to take off and fly. the wind continues today.
Ludger - I have found that the sang pods don't soften like the others. They have a very thick skin - I'd wait until either the peduncle starts to change color or the pod itself looks like it's going to turn to mush. Or 8 1/2 to 9 months - whichever comes first.
Itīs harvested!!! After nine months....the seeds are very good looking. Will sow out this weekend.

What is the cross on this one? You're gonna have to move out of your house to make room for all the brug babies!!
Congratulations Ludger. Glad that you were patient and have lots of nice seeds. Hope you have some pretty blooms from these.
Great Ludger! Your patience has rewarded you. :)
Thanks
Jeanne,
it is real crazy: I had to wait for nine months for becoming ripe. And now I must sow out and wait for more months.( first flower ).
I will stay patient...we do need more pictures for BGI.

I'll bet you have blooms by July Ludger. Is that a pure sang pod?

Liz,
I think it is sang red x sang yellow. May be it is sang red x arborea. Both crossings should give some good new Brugs to us, I hope.
GL
Ludger, how much land do you have available from growing brugs? Sounds like you are going to need a lot.
Shirley,
land ( place for growing ) we have much. Only thing is to have time to plant......last year I potted the last seedlings in August, too late for getting flowes.
Some seedlings are still growing in ground of heated GH,like weeds. We will watch them this spring.
I guess ( think, believe )1000 seedlings are ok to me.2000 would be my boarderline........
I DONT mean that 1000 seedlings will flower here this year.
I say that I will have about 2000 seedlings to care for.
Remember my variegated crossings.
GL
I sure couldn't do that. Just too much for this old gal to care for. I'm not sure how many I'll have this year, but for someone who was going to cut back, I'm seeing way more brugs this summer already than last year. Good luck with all of your seedlings. That is quite an undertaking.
Thanks,smile
GL
WOW,2000 limit?I don't think I have 2000 plants in my veggy garden in summer......let alone all brugs
