I have been admiring all the photos that all the members have been posting and have come to the conclusion I "need" to get a digital camera! :)
I know nothing about them and really only want a simple one [ as in aim, click, check pic then download] for taking pictures of my garden so I can share them here.
What are you using and what do you recommend for this function?
OT
my first camera i didn't want to spend a lot of money so i went to walmart and bought their cheap point and shoot. it did take nice pictures and was under $75. now a few yrs later i have a new camera with more features and a lot more problems.
You may want to check out the Camera forum here on Daves.

For what you are wanting ..... I would recommend a "cheapie" of most any brand, for under $100.
You can spend more and get more megapixels, but it does not sound like you would benefit from the extra bucks.
I got an Olympus camera..simple to use and easy to download with their software..it shows all the pics on the camera in a proof page and easy to resize with a click or two. I love it!Be sure you get rechargeable batteries and a charger too..they use a lot of energy so.it will save you lots of money in the long run!
:-)
Thank you for your input.
DH took the plunge and purchased a Kodak CX4230 camera.
Now once I learn how to use it and the Kodak Easyshare that came with it I hope to be able to parcipate with pictures in the Forum.
The download function in my new Olympus quit working. Have to use a card reader/writer now to download pics to my computer. Real bummer! No more Olympus for me!
When I got my Olympus I had Windows 98 installed. When I got the new puter with Windows XP, it wouldn't work. After finally giving in and reading the directions I found that I can hook the camera to the puter and download much easier than the way I was doing it before with the floppy that held the card. This is a breeze now. I love my little Olympus D-400. Hope it lasts me a long time.
I have my little HP 315, no special features - I think it takes great pics and haven't had any problems. It goes well with my HP puter. It was over $300. 2 years ago when I got it, now I think they are a little over $100.
Thats what I have too,I like using the card reader,my batteries last 3 or 4 months now.....
Wow I wish my batteries would last for months. I just ordered a 4th battery. I use op 3 batteries in 4 or 5 hours but that is keeping the camera on 2 x digital zoom and 10x opitcal zoom when out bird watching.
we invested in rechargable batteries now i don't feel like we are throwing money out the window.
Yes - re-chargeables are the way to go, when they finally run down, I just pop in some really cheapies while the good ones recharge, makes even the cheap ones last longer. Just remember to take them back out when your good ones are re-charged in a few hours. The camera holds 41 pics, but I download them all the time, can't wait to see them!! I have an extra card that holds 82 pics which I have never used.
RA49: What does OT mean? Heading to this thread.
Gloria, you have just asked what I've wanted to know but was afraid to ask. Thought I was having brain freeze again because I couldn't figure it out. Since no one said anything, I knew I had a problem...........LOL
i think it means off topic?
LOL - thought it was a new Brug name!!
Funny, but you never know, if you don't ask.
Yes, OT means off topic.
Sorry if I confused anyone, I have seen it used in forums and thought it was an acceptable short form.
Yeah but you're dealing with a bunch of blonde's or blonde's in training...
We get it eventually...LOL
Don't take much to confuse me.......I'm not even a blonde.
LOL, lots of us are not members of the Blonde Brug Growers Anonymous club for nothing!! LOL We act blonde daily!!!
Any abbreviation is okay, we might just need help to figure out what it means. I've said before, when my brain freezes up, I'm lost. Thanks for telling us what it stood for and now that you mention it, I have seen the OT used before. Probably didn't know what it was then either. Sure glad we can have fun with these things.
