Here is a pic of a large seedpod I found on my monster white brug today. I have been calling it a Aurea x Suaveolens hybrid from the info I read in the brug book. Any comments would be appreciated as it will help me learn about them. Thanks
Can this be finally ID'd
Well, the pod could be from suaveolens, but an aurea pod is egg shaped. It's hard to tell with the mixed hybrids.
I just love pods on brugs. They represent to me all things possible!! Very exciting!
Wow now I am really confused. I agree 100% it looks like a suaveolens seed pod but look at the corrola tube and the calyx. It doesn't fit the descriptions or pics I have seen of the suaveolens. All I can say for sure is this is the hardiest, fastest growing, and largest brug I have seen. Bugs do not bother it, heat does not wilt it, it doesn't drop its leaves in the heat of summer, and make hundreds of blooms non stop and only slows down in the 90 degree heat of August and September. It grew this year from being cut back to the ground to 15' high and 15' wide.
Donna, i tried looking in the pressiel book, do you have it? the aurea X suavolens pods look like yours but fatter. i'm guessing it has more than 2, maybe a cross with dr suess or another brug that has all kinds in it...A, V, S, I. now that i have typed this, surely someone will come by and correct me! the book also says most aurea X suavolens have long whiskers, and yours look suavolens.
this is so confusing to me, our european friends are the only ones that i know that can help with this. maybe brugman if was around.
Gosh Danna.......you have sold me!!! Sounds like a fantasy brug - - too good to be true!! 15 feet?
Donna,
Girl you are going to give yourself ulcers over this Brug yet. LOL I like what you already call it "Monster Brug".
